Paid a visit to the hidden gem of Korean cuisine in Sai Ying Pun. Knowing that their deep-fried chicken is kinda signature, I just splurged a large portion mindlessly! The staff there were nice, which made us dine with comfort.
Some authentic Korean appetizers were served after we had ordered some food, like kimchi.
👍🏿Boneless fried chicken w/ honey mustard sauce(large portion) $218 (8.5/10) One of the must-try dishes! The portion was huge, and quality was undoubtedly worth with affordable price. The fried chicken was in a crisp exterior yielding to a succulent interior. The crispiness really blew my mind and the flesh inside was immensely tender and juicy🤤. Not being heavily marinated, it just hit the spot when paired with honey mustard. Even my mum, who doesn’t really like fried chicken, gave a thumbs up to it.
👍🏿Egg roll w/ mozzarella $78 (7.5/10) The egg roll was quite smooth with tangy eggy smell. Addition of mozzarella cheese had created a gooey texture, which I could slightly made a cheese pull. Nonetheless, it would probably be better if more cheese is added🤣. Not to mention, the sauce on top undeniably made it more flavorful and the taste was not bad, but personally didn’t like the combination of egg and ketchup much:)😗
👌🏿Kimchi pancake $98 (6/10) It was savoury and gamy with a strong spicy flavor, which is good. Generous portion of kimchi was added and pancake was pan-fried till fragrant. Pity that the texture was not as crunchy as what I expected, however moist and doughy. It was also a bit oily to me🫣. Overall the pancake was not my cup of coffee.
🔸Vanilla milkshake $55 Well actually, I’m not a big fan of sugary drinks, so I didn’t have it. However, mum said that it was super good. The texture was delicate and creamy, and the sweetness was prefect! Neither bland nor cloying, but satisfying🥰
In a nutshell, I would still recommend u to drop by there despite some disappointment(the kimchi pancake lol😂). The fried chicken was really impressive and was highly recommended!!😚

When you come to Uncle's, let's face it, the chicken is what you're coming for... The fried chicken is moist and crispy and stands up well to other fried chicken places. If the chicken is all that you're after (Large portion: $200 approx.), then rest assured you're not going wrong coming here if McDonald's McWings aren't going to cut it.
However, when purchasing chicken you're also looking for a good sauce. Uncle's sweet and spicy sauce is nice, but there isn't enough of it. If you're expecting your chicken to be coated in the sticky red sauce you know, then this isn't for you because every additional serving (small plate) of sauce will set you back 10 dollars. The sauces taste quite artificial and Uncle's would do well to make their own if they really want to show off their chicken. There are many more restaurants joining the rat race in Sai Ying Pun and it's all about quality and price point. For something that is already quite expensive, I expected a bit more.
Food is served with sweet pickled daikon cubes.
The kimchi ($18) is pretty standard (nothing special).
The ambience:
The restaurant is dark. This is possibly due to the low light output of the antique filament light bulbs (of which two were broken) and the tinted safety glass on the front windows.
There are cardboard boxes stacked in the corner by the front and back of the restaurant.
KPopmusic videos are playing out from one TV on the wall, while the other TV plays a showreel of their own food photos.
The service:
The staff were friendly and helpful. They made us aware of any additional charges we could expect and although they were ALL eating their own takeaway lunches (other restaurants' food) at the time of our visit, they were happy to help each time we asked for table service.
I would come here again, but only if I'm in the area with friends and have a craving for...
