This MacDonald's is definitely the largest MacDonald's in Causeway Bay. There is at least another two at Cathay Mansion and at Causeway Bay Plaza 2, but those restaurants are not as big. This MacDonald's is sort of 3 floors, halfway up the stairs from the ground floor, is the ice cream parlour, this is on a subfloor and sells mainly cold drinks and ice cream or sundaes. Three more steps to the left from this landing, and you arrive at the main lounge or ordering area with a few ordering machines located on the far left corner. The whole of the front space is occupied by the main cashier, then the MacCafe parlour towards the right or the middle, and the full right side has the pick up or collection table top, where everyone who has made their order come to collect their food. The second and third floors are just tables and seating for customer to eat their food. This restaurant is always full of people especially on weekends, and it is also open 24hrs a day unlike the others mentioned. Like all MacDonald's the food keeps improving, service is as fast as possible, the food is clean, the restaurant environment is also kept as clean as possible. You can buy to eat-in or takeaway. But MacDonald's restaurants also caters and deliver the food to your home. Such other requests are handled by a separate division called MacDelivery...
Read moreMany mornings before I caught the bus to work I was there and see the 露宿者would also be there. They have lots of things asked bags beside. Sometimes you can smell them from somewhere or they need some sleep in the restaurant … I appreciate the restaurant has the water fountain where you can have the drinking water and hot water. There is a top floor where some people may spend much time say hours over there … There are two other floors where people can sit and dine are beside the window so you can see the trams, buses, minibuses outside. The ordering counter is upstairs and there is also one more counter for ice cream, McCafé etc. From time to time, there is some roadshow for promotion. For example if there is a collaboration with some comic cartoons etc you can see them (the big 佈景板)next to the ordering counter at the corner. For wheelchair or people who need help for stairs, you can take the lift from the next building so you can also get into the restaurant without walking the...
Read moreMcDonald's are a bit of a variable feast in Hong Kong, with some outlets really quite tired, dirty and even smelly. So you have to know where to choose if you are in need of an emergency energy fix, that only a McDonald's can sometimes offer.
This is a good one, and has been a good one for many many years.
I particularly like the 'filet-o-fish' burger here - it's exactly right. Coffee is good too, often better than a local Starbucks, bizarrely.
Atmosphere loses a couple of Stars because, well it's a McDonald's, but also I've seen a decline in the buzz and the vibe since people stopped queueing and engaging with staff to order their food and now just tap at computer screens to self-order, and then return to the counter like silent zombies when directed to do so by the big computer.
When will humans realise we have taken a wrong-turn in...
