The food was decent for the price. Vegetables were fresh and the seafood was okay for the price. I think the broth for Tom Yam Cappuccino and Tomatoes & Crabs Souffle should be richer and more bold. The broth was little blend in my opinion. However, it was nice experiencing broth that are not found elsewhere.
Service by the waiter needs to be improved as it was UNACCEPTABLE. Megan's Kitchen is not a cheap and it is not a fast-food joint. I think for its price, the service levels need to match the expectations of people when they dine at a decent restaurant. Some of the problems related to services I ran into:
Waiters were not attentive to the customers. When I tried to get a hold of the waiters either by the bell at the table or by raising my hand and calling them, I was often ignored even when we made eye contact. The language barrier was not the issue as we were speaking both in Chinese and English.
Waiter didn't accept my order when I ordered the Miyazaki Beef. The order was made through the order sheet (written) and I also told the waiter that I want to order the beef (verbally). 30 minutes into our meal and I still didn't get my order, so I called the waiter to check if my order was being prepared. Waiter told me that my order, which included the beef, was on its way. Another 15~20 minutes later, I asked them about the beef that I ordered, and he said beef never got ordered. I was shocked because when I initially asked the waiter for my beef, he said it was on its way. However, when I confronted him again about not getting my beef, he said I never ordered it. If the waiter truly thinks that beef was never ordered, why would he ever say that my beef was on its way when I initially asked him about it after patiently waiting 30 minutes for it? I even had the evidence of ordering beef because it was checked off on the order sheet.
The waiter never apologized for the mistake he made. I think the restaurant management needs to do a better job at managing their employees to provide a higher...
Read moreI love traveling and hitting Michelin star restaurants! While in Hong Kong I came to this one and found it very underwhelming! They got us in without a reservation which was nice. The wait staff immediately was seeming to be pushy while we were trying to figure out the menu rather than be helpful. We first ordered beer and it came 2/3 full so you don’t get what you pay for! They insisted we ordered our soup base immediately then started bringing random stuff out and kind of running the decisions further making it seem like we needed to get out of there. We weren’t taking a lot of time we had just sat down. The bottled water they bring is billed out at $18/bottle if I knew I would have preferred San Pelegríno. The food lacked flavor, the soup bases used in the hot pot didn’t have flavor so it didn’t make what you put in it receive that flavor. We tried two different bases. Napkins were not provided at all until we asked which are necessary for this type of dining. Things happen but I’ll add die to other issues the waiter spilled wine all over the table too. While eating they kept seeking to push us out. We kept saying we are still eating. Then after just finishing eating they again seemed pushy about taking our bottles of wine with us. Told them we want to enjoy it here and they asked again. Finally the waiter brought a take away bag and packed the wine up insinuating that they want us to leave. We got the bill and through the language barrier we couldn’t figure out a billing discrepancy also. So we just paid and left. I’m not sure at all how this place achieve a Michelin rating. The food looks good just doesn’t taste as good as you’d expect based on the looks of price. I...
Read moreGreat food but billing issues The ingredients at this restaurant are indeed very fresh and delicious, especially with a wide variety of choices that offer some pleasant surprises. The hotpot broth is also rich and flavorful, and overall, the food is quite satisfying.
However, the service really needs improvement. Half of our group had not yet arrived, but the waiter repeatedly urged us to start cooking the broth, citing that there were many customers today. In reality, there were only a few tables occupied in the restaurant at that time. This constant urging was quite annoying and negatively affected our dining experience.
The most disappointing part was when we checked the bill and found that we were charged for two plates of salt and pepper squid, even though we only ordered one. Additionally, we ordered three plates of beef, but the bill charged us for four. These errors were very frustrating and even gave the impression of deceiving customers.
Although the food was indeed tasty, this unpleasant experience, particularly with the service and billing issues, left me very disappointed. I don’t think I will come back again. I hope the restaurant can address these problems and improve both customer service and the accuracy of...
