It’s my first time visiting this restaurant, and I’d say it is great value for quite exquisite dishes.

The menu has quite a number of interesting dishes (particularly seafood) not typically found in upscale Chinese restaurants. Every dish we ordered was tasty.

We had the red crab steamed with egg white and yellow wine Full of flavours and there’s a lot of meat. Egg white with smooth and you taste the hint of yellow wine - definitely a dish I would order again.

The braised bitter melon in broth (翡翠玉枕) was one of their signature dishes. Bitter melon was finely chopped into thin slices soaked in their house broth. Very impressive too, but since I’m not a bitter melon fan, I did not love this dish.

Their deep-fried crispy chicken in scallion sauce (紅棉蔥油雞) was recommended by the manager to us. We loved it - chicken skin was beautifully fried and so crispy, meat was tender, scallion sauce was light but flavourful.

We also highly recommend their seafood fried rice (海鮮炒飯) which simply had so many ingredients that compliment each other super well. Great solid delicious fried rice.

The restaurant offered tang yuan for free as it was the Chinese Lantern Festival. We topped it with some crispy fresh milk curd paired with sweet rose jam (玫瑰鍋炸), this was also yummy but it’s not a WOW dish, and we loved the rose jam so much.

One small negative point I experienced was a very slow drinks service. I had to wait for 15 minutes for a simple soda mocktail, and another 15 minutes for the straw. The staff apologised about this and reasoned that they ran out of straws.

Parking is available at the hotel premise at quite a hefty price. But you can also park at the commerical building carpark just next door at a much lower price.

Overall the experience was great, service was fine and met the expectations, prices were on the higher end but a worthy meal. I will surely revisit...

So surprised that this restaurant has such raving reviews because our experience was honestly mediocre. Every dish we ordered lacked flavour and for the price, was very underwhelming.

  1. Chrysanthemum tofu soup: probably the best dish
  2. Fried prawns with egg yolk: not crispy and oily.
  3. Tea roasted chicken: Tender chicken but was uninteresting
  4. Yellow eel rice pot: the eel was diced into small pieces so it was difficult to appreciate its flavour. Lacked salt and was oddly bland.
  5. Black truffle noodles: looked and tasted like a plate of tagliatelle. Minimal truffle flavour
  6. Fried milk dessert with rose sauce: overwhelming flavour of rancid frying oil. It didn't even taste of milk and the texture just wasn't done right. The rose sauce felt very out of place too.

For the price, the tables were so closely packed together. The service was overly attentive with waiters clearing the table the literal second you finished a dish. Also noted several eavesdropping to our conversations. We felt rushed and just felt uncomfortable.

Also note the restaurant is not part of the Murray Hotel! Parking costs $100/hr. Had high hopes and a good experience with the other restaurants at the Murray Hotel but this restaurant was such a...

Exceptional Lunch at Mian

Every dish was a masterpiece. The roasted Iberico pork had the perfect balance of lean and fat, with a crispy exterior that literally melted in your mouth. The char siu glaze was impeccable and little bit thai style.

The dandan chicken dish was a brilliant take on the classic - tender boneless meat swimming in that addictively numbing sauce. Perfectly balanced spice that didn't overwhelm.

The chrysanthemum tofu soup was pure elegance - delicate floral notes complementing the earthiness of matsutake mushrooms. Clear broth but deep in flavor.

Their crispy chicken is a must-try. That scallion sauce elevated it from great to extraordinary - fragrant and brightened the perfectly crispy skin. Where's my bowl of rice!!!!!!

Desserts were the perfect finale. The hawthorn cake had just the right tartness, black sesame roll was intensely nutty, and that crispy glutinous rice cake was textural perfection.

Genuinely one of the best Chinese meals I've had. Every dish showed incredible technique and balance. I am already planning my next visit for dinner....
