A Memorable Culinary Journey at Popinjays – An Absolute Must-Try!

My husband and I recently stayed at The Murray and decided to indulge in the Degustation Dinner Menu at Popinjays, and what an unforgettable experience it was! From the moment we stepped in, we were captivated by the elegant ambiance and the breathtaking city views, even from our indoor seating. For those who prefer al fresco dining, the outdoor option is equally enchanting and popular.

The food was nothing short of spectacular—a delightful symphony of flavors, each dish meticulously crafted and beautifully presented. Our standout favorite was the Signature Linguine with Boston Lobster & Bagno Cauda. The rich, umami-packed flavors were a lovely surprise, leaving us utterly impressed. Every course, from the delicate Seared Hokkaido Scallop to the succulent Ranger Valley Wagyu M5 Tenderloin, was a testament to the chef’s creativity and skill.

What truly elevated our evening was the exceptional service. Restaurant Manager Matteo was the epitome of charm and professionalism, and his generous pours of champagne added a touch of luxury to our meal. Dustin, our attentive server and expert with the menu and its beautiful intricacies, was wonderful to chat with and ensured every detail was perfect, while DJ also made us feel warmly welcomed.

Popinjays isn’t just a meal—it’s an experience. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply treating yourself, this restaurant delivers on every level. Highly recommended—we can’t wait to return! In fact, we are already planning for another trip to Hong Kong, for the sole purpose of...

Popinjays at The Murray Hotel is an absolute gem that redefines luxury dining in Hong Kong. From the moment you step into the sleek private elevator ascending to the 26th floor, the anticipation builds for what promises to be an unforgettable experience. The panoramic 360-degree views of Central’s skyline and Victoria Peak from the wraparound terrace are nothing short of breathtaking, especially during sunset or under the glittering city lights at night 🌃

The culinary offerings are a masterclass in Italian craftsmanship. The menu, curated by Chef Alexandre, blends tradition with innovation—think Gran Crudo, a lavish seafood platter with oysters, langoustine, and Sicilian prawns, or the show-stopping Baked Alaska flambéed tableside for drama . The Pappardelle Al Brasato with slow-braised short rib is a must-try, showcasing rich, layered flavors that linger on the palate. For those seeking indulgence, the monthly Night Brunch is a highlight, offering unlimited premium dishes like charcoal-grilled lamb chops and free-flow Ruinart champagne, all set to live DJ beats performance .

Service here is impeccable—attentive yet unobtrusive, with staff expertly guiding diners through the menu and wine pairings. The chic, modern ambiance, accentuated by art installations and golden accents, strikes a perfect balance between sophistication and relaxed elegance .

Whether it’s a romantic dinner, a celebratory event in The Aviary private room, or cocktails under the stars, Popinjays delivers a flawless experience. A true standout in Hong Kong’s dining scene, it’s worth every...

Terrible experience: Ended up walking out of the restaurant!

Booked a last minute, same-day reservation for dinner at Popinjays for five people. Specifically requested for an outdoor table as the weather is finally beautiful. Reservations agent on the phone committed and confirmed my request so when we arrived, we were genuinely surprised to be assigned to a table inside the restaurant. When I reiterated what we requested, receptionist explained and justified that there are no tables that can accommodate our group outdoor. There were tables outside that can definitely be arranged to accommodate more than 5 pax.

A male service associate arranged our table and we ended up having 7 seats. He said he will arrange the chairs accordingly but left us and went inside the restaurant. A female service associate immediately started to set utensils on the huge table.

A lovely female superior tried to save the situation by finding solutions which we appreciated. However, by then we were just too disappointed that we ended up walking out.

Kudos to the female supervisor who tried to...

erb! If you’re looking for amazing food, great service and a gorgeous setting for dinner, you must go to Popinjays! I’ve visited the bar, with friends, on many occasions, but never tried the restaurant- it was the perfect choice! During the whole experience, we felt properly pampered, from the meet and greet, as we stepped out of the lift, to the moment we left. Matteo and his team absolutely excelled in making us feel welcome, and I look forward to returning soon. We opted for the tasting menu, and it did not disappoint! Each dish was beautifully presented, the flavours complemented each other and tasted delicious! We could tell the menu had been meticulously planned, with a lot of care and attention to which ingredients to use for each plate. My favourite courses were the peking duck ravioli and the Chilean seabass. The seabass was the best I’ve ever tasted. The recommended bottle of wine was a perfect accompaniment to all the courses, too. I would definitely recommend Popinjays for an evening out.
