Disappointing.
Teppanyaki is an art form and a dining experience. Unfortunately, how the chef handled his utensils and the food, made it more like he is cooking in a kitchen than at a teppanyaki table.
The chef touched the food with his hands numerous times. Cutting the mushrooms. Cutting the asparagus. Taking out veggie from the plate onto the teppanyaki grill. Many times I had been to teppanyaki the chefs were all able to handle the food and cooking with only his/her knife and fork.
Presenting the food to the customers is an important process for Japanese food. I would expect the chef to hold on to the outside of the bowl (fried rice), instead of dipping his thumb inside the bowl and I saw it touched my fried rice.
Understandably it’s difficult to cook with a surgical mask on. But more importantly to observe pandemic hygiene. The chef touched his ear once, and his mask three times. And of course, he also then touched the food as well. I would suggest he used a paper napkin to separate his fingers and his face or mask.
The fried rice and the fried vegetables were bland. The fried rice had clunks of rice, where a good fried rice you will see each rice on its own. The miso soup was super salty. The steak was a bit over-fried on the skin. Additionally, the steak was not rested enough, you could see a lot of the steak juice left on the plate. The dessert was so - boring.

Read moreI went for lunch. Ordered the fixed seafood tepenyaki, sat at the grill. I had my hotel's concierge book the reservation.
I was the last order 2:30pm.
Service was fine, food was fine, I had plenty enough to take a box away.
I was here 10 years ago, and had a similar experience.
It's nothing to write home about, not even the view of neighboring hotels and a corner slice of the Harbour.
It wasn't bad, it wasn't great, it just was. For the price? I believe it was over priced for what I received:
3 pieces of salmon sashimi 3 pickle small dishes for flavor Bowl of soup Green lettuce salad Stir fry of cabbage and bean sprouts Thin wrapped steak rolls (6 pieces) Fried rice Tea
I'm not sure why it was called seafood but that's what I ordered and what I got was the steak. Wasn't pretty enough to even photo.
There you have it. With tip+ service charge + food + tea it's about $700 HKD.
Meh. Oh if you go try not to sit by the door, the down wind from the grill will keep blowing the entire time he cooks for you, the other people and himself and the staff. I saw him make a really nice white fish for 2 people after me even though I was told I was the last order. That fish...
Read moreWe are a table of three, perhaps we we're not like the usual business clients dressed in fancy suits, it seemed like we were treated like children and looked down upon by waitress (no, we weren't wearing shorts and sleeveless shirts) ... Not showen the same respect as say the next table with two gentlemen dressed in suits ... And I definitely didn't feel like I was in a five star hotel . Not something you would expect from a kaseki meal. The food was good, but some was soso... Like the duck breast, or the steamed egg which was a bit salty. The grilled wagyu beef was good... But not great. Not a place I would be quick to...
