Worst Scam Restaurant – Michelin Star? More Like Michelin Fraud!
I have NEVER felt more ripped off in my life! Ordered three bowls of simple porridge with just century egg and pork—guess how much? $600!! Absolutely insane! This is something that costs $60-$80 even at top-tier dim sum restaurants. And then came the real shocker: a plate of stir-fried beef noodles (干炒牛河) for $400?! It’s just noodles and beef, nothing special, nothing luxurious—how on earth does that justify a price tag like that?!
The biggest scam restaurant I’ve ever seen. The food was completely average—nothing remotely deserving of a Michelin star. Makes me wonder who they paid off to get that award. Either that or Michelin has completely lost its credibility.
If you enjoy getting robbed in broad daylight, by all means, go ahead. But if you have even a shred of common sense, STAY AWAY. Total tourist trap, complete scam, and a disgrace to the dining industry.
This version makes the complaint sharper and forces the restaurant to explain their pricing. Let me know if you...
Read moreJUNE 2024 - UPDATE the à la carte dim sum is still so delicious. The products used are high quality and the fillings generous. We loved the char sui bao baked and the steamed ones, both are succulent. Highly recommend also the Rice rolls with deep-fried crispy shrimp, they are perfectly prepared, lots of shrimp and the sauce is so so yummy. All the other classics tried were also so good : Shanghai dumplings, sui mai, har gow.
You can’t go wrong, it’s a must try for dim sum in Hong Kong.
JUNE 2023-Tasty as generous dim sum
It’s a la carte dim sum. You will find all the classics. The size of each piece and their fillings are generous. Really loved the chat sui Bao, not your traditional bun, it’s a mixed between the usual one and a brioche and it’s absolutely delicious. The Shanghai dumpling with the soup inside is a must try also. Service is excellent and the setting very traditionally nice. I would highly recommend a dim sum lunch at the summer palace at the...
Read moreUsually we come here for Dim Sum and it is delightful, so we decided to get some Chinese New Year Pudding for year of the snake.
We were very excited to try them out and we were utterly disappointed. We tried them both ways: pan fried and steamed. The pan fried slices turned out very rubbery, the steamed version was slightly better, but still had a very rubbery consistency.. it was in general quite tasteless too. We didn't even finish it and had to throw it away.
It is a shame since one Turnip pudding costs $358, you will expect a high quality product. We have had far better Turnip puddings for lower prices, where the batter is smooth and filled to the brim with fillings.
We usually order the Chinese New Year puddings from the Grand Hyatt, and they are far more superior. Maybe we were just unlucky this time and got a bad batch of the...
