1 star for Wanchai. 5 star for Soho.
Go to Soho branch for better food and service. Terrible service here at Wanchai.
As a long standing and well fed customer, we go pretty much weekly to Soho during the last 6 months and over lockdowns.
The service there is great and the regular chicken souvalaki well done is perfect and when it is not they take accountability and help rectify things.
The wanchai service is terrible. Today, The chicken souvlaki was off par - it was dried up and chewey - (which is ok sometimes dishes do not come out well) but then the Manager failed miserably to listen and then take any accountability defending the chicken which was hardly touched. The manager then asked the chef to come out and explain why his food is right and then the manager lashed out telling me how we are complainers and last time we did the same (last time it was an issue of service rather than food).
Unable to resolve it she then called up the owner (overseas) to deal with an on the ground issue - which thankfuly the owner is a great listener.
Anyway, they have the best greek in town and just go to Soho to prevent any drama at the Wanchai branch.
Tip for Wanchai I think using one skewer with bigger pieces rather than two skewers with smaller pieces is affecting when one wants it welldone. I think you should go eat the well done chicken at Soho and compare me - You will understand why...
Read moreAtmosphere is great. The chairs are not Louis XVI standard but the colors are refreshing. It adds to the impression of an outdoor patio for a comfy seaside restaurant.
I felt the music is a bit loud but that’s 100% personal view and honestly quite easily fixable. Don’t be a lil b** and ask nicely if music can be turned up or down. I’m sure the staff are happy to assist with reasonable requests.
The service was pretty good. The chefs saw me starting to look for a waiter to start ordering, and used the bell to direct a waitress’ attention to myself. That gave me an impression of good teamwork.
The souvlakis were fantastic. The fries were crispy and did not rise out of the dead sea. The pita was fresh and soft. The meat was tender and juicy. The tzatziki sauce was light and refreshing. The main course was breathtaking.
I tried the Greek Yogurt for dessert. Loved the walnuts but not so much the honey. Ended up too sweet for my liking but that’s 100% just me disliking honey.
Price is well above the Asian fast food places (bento/lunchbox) where you find chopsticks in a drawer under the table. But it’s a fair price for the meal I got. A solid pick for...
Read moreSantorini Greek Tavern is a good place for authentic Greek cuisine in Wan Chai. The restaurant is located on the 5th floor of the QRE Plaza on Queen's Road East. Opening hours are 12-2.30pm (lunch) and 6-10.45pm (dinner) daily.
The seating area is that of a traditional Greek tavern, blue and white colour scheme with nice wall decor. Service is friendly and food served in a timely fashion.
During our recent lunch here, we tried a Spanakopita, a nice flaky pastry with creamy spinach and feta filling. This was a good starter. Similarly, we liked the Kapnisti Melitzana, a smoked eggplant oven-baked and served open faced with tomato, feta and kefalotyri cheese and herbs. This was also a very tasty mezze style order, good for sharing.
For our main we shared the Lamb Souvlaki that tasted just as expected. Lamb was seasoned well, tender and flavourful. Served with fries, pita bread and salad. Again, just a quality flavourful dish, one we'd gladly reorder next time around.
In the end, this was a good lunch at Santorini Greek Tavern in Wan Chai. I can see us returning her for another lunch in the...
