If you are looking for the worst hospitality and service in Hong Kong, this is the place to be. I was a local but moved oversea 10 years ago. The food I had 10 years ago was okay, acceptable and very average for Cha Chaan Tang. The service was also average, not so bad. However, i experienced the worst service you couldn’t find anywhere but here this time. At first I sat down with my family and I would like to look for a washroom. The server claimed that the toilet was blocked, the nearest toilet is on the other side of a park which is next to it. He was obviously taking a piss out of me, because there was another lady server. If you didn’t want customers to use your toilet, you could have said it. And then came the minimum charge of $30 per person plus 10% service charge for the whole bill. Cha Chaan Tang usually doesn’t take service charge. We didn’t order anything at the end because everything is so overpriced. The server was basically rude and didn’t bother doing any...

Nestled across from the historic Tin Hau Temple, Mido Cafe stands as a beacon of nostalgia in the heart of Hong Kong. Stepping inside, you're transported to a bygone era, where traditional charm meets modern hustle and bustle.

The ambiance at Mido Cafe is as inviting as it is timeless. Vintage decor, reminiscent of old Hong Kong, sets the stage for a culinary journey through the city's rich history.

We sampled an array of classic dishes, from crispy pineapple buns to silky smooth milk tea. Each bite was a testament to Mido Cafe's dedication to preserving the essence of Hong Kong's culinary heritage.

But perhaps the most memorable aspect of our visit was the view of Tin Hau Temple from across the street. As we savored our meal, we couldn't help but feel a sense of connection to the city's storied past.

For a taste of old Hong Kong charm and authentic local flavors, Mido Cafe is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the vibrant streets...

We came here for late lunch, and got us 3 dishes and 3 drinks.

Prawn noodle soup, we loved it!! It does get starchy after it cools down, so highly recommend that you finish it fast!

Sweet and sour prawn, this was a decent dish, but not sure if we love it, especially since we’re used to Singapore’s version of this sauce. The prawns are battered as well.

Baked pork chop tomato rice, got this as it was the first few dishes recommended on their Google reviews. The pork was cooked tender, and the fried rice was good. If you’re not a fan of tomato sauce, you might not like this though.

We got iced lemon tea, Coke with lemon and hot lemon honey.

Love the vibes of this place, cute aesthetics and very old-school. They did say no photos allowed, but did overhear that photos are fine as long as you’re not disrupting others. I took photos at my seat, without others, and no comments were...

Honestly I dont understand why TimeOut recommended this place (very clear bias and paid ad) ! Is TimeOut doing a proper job of reviewing cafes in Hong Kong? This is a clear tourist trap with zero locals eating in this cafe. I understand the rustic antique feel of this cafe brings but there are better options! The cafe posted 'no photos' policy all around the cafe and the owners would stare hard at you if you try. There were a few tables super obviously taking photos but they didn't get the same treatment of die hard stares. So why the difference in treatment?! Please do not purposely come over to Yau Ma Tei for this cafe, not worth your effort+ money+time and the hospitality from the owners are not worth it. There are better char chaan teng serving better french toasts and milk tea
