Worst service ever from an upscale hotel Chinese restaurant! Booked reservation online and were not informed of the 90 minutes times slot for dinning on a Saturday afternoon. We arrived at the restaurant on April 15 around noon time and were seated promptly and still were not informed of the limited time slot for dining. One of the waiter’s hand smacked my mom’s eye as he was delivering a dish, please keep in mind there was alot of space that he can manœuvre without smacking my elderly mom. Even though he quickly apologized it left a bad impression already. As we were finishing up the meal, our bill was delivered by the same waiter without us asking for the bill first and by then we figured out that there was a time constraint on dining. We finished up the meal, paid the bill, mom took one last sip of tea and I assisted her with putting on her face mask. Then the maître d approached our table and expressed we have to hurry up and vacate our table pointing to his waist watch almost gesturing that we have to leave right away. We were flabbergasted by this type of gesture! My best friend left the table and proceeded to the front of the restaurant to have a word with the maître d as I assisted my elderly mom out of her chair. I also expressed my discontent as we spoke to this maître d. There are a lot of exceptional Chinese restaurants around the Tsim Sha Tsui area with outstanding service such as the Spring Moon within the Peninsula Hong Kong. This will be our first and last time we will dine at the Queen! Horrific service to...
Read moreTHE QUEEN at 1881 Heritage in Tsim Sha Tsui boasts an elegant, courtyard-style setting with a vintage vibe and soft lighting, perfect for photos. The atmosphere was calm during our weekend dinner, with only one other table, and the air-con was comfortable, letting us linger until 10 PM. However, the open-door design led to a major downside: flying insects. One even landed in my drink, which was a real turn-off. • Poached Mandarin Fish: Generous portion, tender fish, well-balanced spiciness with silky vermicelli and duck blood • Imperial Fried Rice: Fluffy, packed with shrimp, scallops, and tons of crab roe, super flavorful. • Fig Sweet & Sour Black Pork: Crispy and tasty, but tiny portions—two small pieces per person felt stingy. • Salted Egg Yolk Prawn Balls: Six pieces, well-cooked and crisp, but could use more yolk flavor. Service was a letdown. The manager swapped my insect-tainted drink but was curt, saying, “We’ve sprayed, but the ceiling’s like that,” pointing up and walking off—no apology. Worse, for my friend’s birthday, we asked about reserving longevity buns during booking, and staff said it wasn’t needed, but on-site, they required a reservation, ruining the celebration. The price isn’t exorbitant for the ambiance, but the service and mix-ups were unacceptable....
Read moreit's a sichuan restaurant in 1881 building. the interior was posh, with each room only a few round tables to limit the number of people and noise.
lots to choose from the menu, it made us quite difficult to decide what to go for. we were only in a group of 3 so chinese food might not be a good choice, we really can't pick much. the main one we wanted was the boiled chili fish but when we looked at the menu, we found it interesting to try with the ox tongue instead. that's the best pick of the night indeed! very hot and spicy soup, with very soft ox tongue, it's very easy to eat with and the mouthfeel and flavour was excellent! the second best of the night was the fish cooked with bean curd, they're made both very soft and smooth. it's a very elegant match. many people recommended the fried rice so we picked it, ya it was good too. overall the place was nice, food was nice. only complaint i had for the night was, the big group of people at the next door was extremely noisy. they screamed and shouted throughout the whole night, was so drunk and banging thing. we could hardly hear each other. but we knew the staff couldn't do anything...
