Tucked away down a little alley just off the main strip in Macau, Pedro’s Portuguese restaurant is a true hidden gem that feels like going back home to Portugal—perfect for matar saudades. The moment you step in, the homely atmosphere and the warm welcome from Pedro himself make it clear you’re in for something special.
The beef sandwiches are incredible—tender, juicy, and bursting with authentic Portuguese flavor. The fish cakes are perfectly crisp on the outside and wonderfully savory inside, just like the ones you’d find back in a little tasca in Lisbon. Every bite brought back memories of home.
What truly sets this place apart is Pedro. Not only is he a fantastic cook, but he also makes you feel like an old friend, sharing stories and making the experience personal and unforgettable. It’s the kind of place you’ll want to visit again and again—not just for the food, but for the feeling of home it brings.
Thank you for your amazing hospitality, Pedro. We will be back soon! Highly recommend this spot for anyone missing Portugal or simply wanting to experience its...
Read moreComing from an English-speaking background, I felt a bit of passive-agressiveness from the owner when he spoke but it could be because English isn’t his1st language. I ordered green wine, but it said vin blanc on the label(But, it sounds like it’s from Vinho Verde so I could be very wrong). Didn’t know it would be a sparkling wine…wish I knew it beforehand though! The beer was okay but wasn’t as fresh as we had in Portugal(but this is also understandable). We ordered the codfish croquette and requested mayo and the owner got super offended and shared he only serves the “Portuguese ways”. I told him in Portugal they gave me some mayo and he laughed! Understands where he is coming from and full-respect him trying to provide legit Portuguese culture, but if a customer has a way of enjoying the food, could they not have it their own way and be respected? Anyhoo, the croquette itself was VERY GOOD! Unfortunately, we wanted to try the Octupus salad but it wasn’t available! All in all, the vibe wasn't vibing so we left early!

The cheese dish was the special of the day, and it truly blew me away. Despite being already full, my first bite was a burst of rich flavor and creamy texture that made me pause—absolutely unforgettable. This is hands down a must-try.
Coming in second for me is the authentic pork bun made with beer—flavorful and unique. Third place goes to the refreshing octopus salad. These three dishes are my top picks and absolute must-orders if I ever visit Macao again.
The owner is incredibly friendly, always cracking jokes and making the experience even more enjoyable. I also loved the cozy atmosphere, especially the interiors and that quirky touch of the three golden horses with cushions—so much character!
Macao is full of Chinese food options, but this spot stands out. I rarely write Google reviews, but this place deserves it. Highly recommended—you must give it a try! Enjoy the food, have a chat with the owner, and don’t judge the book by its cover. Be...
