Al Alma deserves being on my list of Top Cafes in Cartagena. Not just because of its unique interior design, the amazing service but also its variety of healthy vegan and vegetarian food. I went for breakfast 🥞 and lunch and highly recommend it.
⚜️What’s special? Imagine high ceilings with floor-to-ceiling windows, large tropical palms and plants, colorful paintings and bohemian art decor of local artists on the wall, fish-shaped tap in bathroom, hook on the table for your bag …every detail is taken care off…without a doubt the most beautiful interior design I’ve seen in a cafe in Cartagena. That alone is a reason to visit.
🥗 Food: I had the Cafe Latte with vegetable milk (+$2100), different fresh juices ($8/9000) açaí bowl ($28000) - detailed review see below- a butter croissant with delicious homemade marmalade ($7500) and the vegan derretido verde sandwich ($23400) with homemade sourdough bread with nuts, vegan pesto mayonnaise, avocado, creamy sautéed spinach and tomatoes (substitute for mozzarella) - SIMPLY DIVINE - BEST SANDWICH I’ve had in years (I don’t usually eat sandwich because of gluten). The chef deserves an applause.
🙋♂️Service: staff is super attentive and always walking around with a smile (IF that was not your experience, remember the law of attraction)
⏰Opening hours: Cafe 8-8pm daily Large rooftop 5-10pm daily
🌿Environmental friendly: recyclable take-away containers and straws, most fresh ingredients are organic
🌎 Wifi: Free wifi to use
👩💻Charging: sockets are available to charge your device
🥗Menu: includes Vegan dishes, such as oatmeal bowl, açaí bowl, avocado-toast, peanut butter/banana toast, vegetable bowls, delicious juices and smoothies. Menu is the same in all AL Alma Cafes in the country. Owner suggestion: It would be great to mark vegan dishes on the menu so they are easier to find.
💵 Fair prices for the value.
💳 Easy Payment by card without fee
🥣Açaí Bowl: It was solid but it's not their signature dish and if you LOVE açaí bowls, better go to Oakberry, Epoca Cafe or Beiru. It was served in a large, flat quiche-like dish with granola, coconut, chia and fruits. Suggestions to the owner: using a bowl instead, mix açaí only with vegetable milk and maybe banana to keep the original taste, give options for additional toppings such as cacao nibs, peanut butter, nuts and seeds

Read moreQuite disappointing. After reading other reviews and seeing the photos I had high hopes for this place. The building is gorgeous, so its a shame - but everything I ordered came out cold. Chai latte - came iced when I ordered hot - I'm pretty sure they just took the same water down iced chai and tried to heat it up but when it came back to the table it was barely lukewarm... The fruit was old, the watermelon so visibly old I didn't want to eat it. The ropa vieja - flavor was delicious - but again it came out cold. Eggs are cold. The arepa de huevo was cold. I ordered the chai latte and the arepa first, and about 10 minutes later I ordered the ropa vieja eggs breakfast. But everything came out together, but still everything was cold. Service was poor. My waiter was a man, the receipt said Barra - tho I don't know if that was accurate or not . When I told the him that I thought the appetizer would come out first, he just looked at me, didn't say anything and just acted like he didn't care... I speak Spanish so it wasn't a language barrier issue
It's too bad because this place has great potential and the building is absolutely beautiful but I don't see myself coming back. And I live here, I eat out a lot. It's...
Read moreRestaurant review only: What a beautiful interior with the potential to be a great restaurant! The customer service, while friendly, is very nonchalant almost to the point of being ignored. The restaurant was not full. We were promptly seated and our drink order was taken. Despite telling our waiter we were on a time crunch due to a reservation, our drinks didn’t arrive until approximately 35 minutes of waiting. We placed our food order shortly after ordering our drinks, and after waiting 20 minutes we asked our waiter for an update, to which they stated “the food will come out right now”. 10 minutes later we asked if our food was coming out soon based on what we were told previously. Two of our group members cancelled their orders due to the wait times, and informed a staff member to confirm that the members who stayed would not be charged for their order. Once they left, a member of our party confirmed that, to which our waiter replied “I have no recollection of that conversation”, and which ultimately led to speaking to the manager to confirm. In the end, everyone was friendly, accommodating, the food was good, but due to the excessive wait times and prompting required, I don’t recommend coming...
