Restaurante Fuerte de San Sebastián del Pastelillo-Club de Pesca — Restaurant in Cartagena

Hicimos una reservación desde noviembre 15 para el día 24 de dic y el día de llegar a la cena en pleno restaurante nos informaron que el restaurante no contaba con mi reserva ! Y lo peor es que tenía confirmaciones por parte de ellos acerca de mi reservación, la atención al empezar la noche no fue la mejor, los meseros no tenían conocimiento sobre vinos ni tenían amabilidad con el comensal , después de comentar mi disgusto con su Manager Valeria ella mejoró la situación poco a poco , al final de la noche el servicio mejoró de -1 a 3.5 sobre 5.

Not the best service !!! Made a reservation a month ago since I was traveling from Europe and this place was highly recommended as a fine dinning . The day of my reservation I showed up at the restaurant and they informed me that my reservation didn’t exist !!! Absolutely incredible in xmas night I had no reservation and of course everything else was already booked …however I did have proofs of my reservation made in advance and showed to the manager, her name is Valeria she somehow helped regarding finding us a table, although not the best table or the one k had previously booked . The waitress did not offer the best service , they had no idea of wines and none of them knew English so for a non speaker of Spanish this is not convenient. At the end of the night and after multiples complaints the manager finally took care of us and gave us a better table ( as we had requested in our reservation we wanted a table with a view ) and improved the service for us , a new waitress was assigned to us he did know a bit more of wines at least … The food was overall good … so over a 5 I gave at the end of the night a 3,5 rate to this place … we were there from 7-11 pm. The amazement of Club de Pesca is gone. For the last 15 years we have visited this restaurant every other year to celebrate our anniversary. Tonight was our last night! Had Amex make our reservation but of course they didn't have it (as it turns out Paula was the person Amex had in the notes and she was the one working the front tonight but was firm that we didn't have a reservation). They got us squeezed in after we got upset showing them all the info provided by Amex. Our table was in a great location, and the live music added to the evening. Cocktail list is small and very basic. We switched to beer after two rounds of bad cocktails ( ordered Dictador a very nice Colombian rum and they don't Cary it. This is a famous "fancy" rum and they had no clue about it). Appetizers were both ok but lacked any pop of flavor. For dinner we all had seafood (seafood platter, seafood rice and 2 filet of fish with toppings). My seafood rice was so so bland. The others were average but nothing special. We shared two desserts and they were nice but would not order again Out of 4 restaurant the last few days Club de Pesca got our lowest vote from all in our group (Burlador, Juan del Mar, Inca and Bastion Hotel were the others for reference. Pesca was also the most expensive bill we had).

This restaurant held such a special place in the history of my wife and I but unfortunately so many better restaurants with beautiful ambience can be found...

On vacation and decided to give this place a try given the high rating. The place has great views but really bad food. Food lacked a lot of flavor.

Salmon, tuna and sea bass trilogy: Sea bass ceviche was very salty, salmon was okay, and tuna was overpowered by the black pepper.

Caribbean soup: Not very flavorful…mediocre at best

Surf and turf: Steak was overcooked and extremely tough to eat. We could barely cut through it with a steak knife. When we told the server, he just laughed and walked away! They didn’t remake the steak and didn’t seem to care they messed up.

Braised portobello: Lacked flavor altogether.

Braised eggplants: No eggplant to be found… pasta was overpowered with garlic flavor. Dish does not appeared as shown on the menu.
