The hotel is in a quiet neighborhood yet within walking distance to bars, restaurants and the metro. Breakfast is simple and they didn't charge for the extra bowls of cereal my son ate. They do charge extra for bathroom amenities but only the stuff in the basket, which they inform you of when they show you your room. Same with the items in the fridge and on top of the fridge, as other hotels do. The WiFi worked well but the tv in our room did not (room 21). No big deal though, we only wanted to watch some FIFA while dressing. Room 21 had a small couch that unfolded onto the floor which worked well for our 7 yr old to sleep on. However, without that couch, he still could have fit in the bed with us. The room and shower were spacious. Our only complaints about the room is the toilet that only flushes half the time, which is a real pain, especially if one of those times is after a bowel movement. ;/ Also, one must walk over soil and a log to get to the room which is quite dangerous in the dark. They need a cement path. They are adding a new room next door, so maybe one will be created. The two men that work the desk are pleasant. The women, meh. They could learn to smile more, get your breakfast choices correct (especially since you are choosing from only a couple items...coffee or hot chocolate, toast or arepa, apple or banana). It's an old farmhouse set up in a charming fashion with character. I would stay...
Read moreWhat we liked:|The Basics - clean room, quiet yet central location (Poblado), pool, quite a budget price||What we didn’t like:|The details: |- on the (very early) morning of our departure the receptionist was not informed that we’ve already paid the room and started discussing endlessly about the money while our cab to the airport was waiting in front. Also showing him my credit card receipt (from THEIR place) didn’t please him as he didn’t have computer access or knowledge of anything. You can imagine how fun this is when you’re supposed to catch your flight. I really can’t understand how they can have someone like this in charge...finally he got one on the phone who approved that we’ve paid and we were free to go...yay.||- no problem with simple breakfast but theirs just isn’t good||- watch out with their bathroom “amenities”...they charge for all of them!||- tried desperately to sell us a Guatape tour which has very bad ratings and refused to make a reservation for the one we chose||Even without our little incident described above I don’t get the 4-5 ratings here. Solid 3 at...
Read moreLocation, price, a swimming pool and breakfast included all make this hotel difficult to ignore just because of a few bad reviews, but after staying here I wish I would have paid a little more attention to the bad reviews and gone somewhere else. And to be totally honest, the mold in the room, missing smoke detectors, occasional cigarette smell in the room from staff smoking outside the window, or even the uncomfortable bed without a set of sheets, all these could be overlooked.
But the bells, buzzers, people wearing clogs and loud sporadic noise in general that occurred right outside the door from 2 am till 4.30 am, makes me wish we had chosen somewhere else. The mix of guests coming home late from the bars, checking in late, or checking out early, is brutally loud inside the room (room 4) it sounded and felt like the front gate buzzer and checkout desk was in our room. Many of the rooms front this lobby/lounge area and with the 4" gap at the bottom the door, I'm sure all have...
