dined in late on 3 jan, friday, around 10.45pm. we ordered pad thai & kimchi fried rice. the pad thai was average but the kimchi fried rice………… was simply the most horrible thing i’ve ever tasted. paid €23.98 for two dishes, €11.99 each.
the kimchi fried rice was either overcooked from the start, or the chef added way too much water into the dish. the rice tasted nothing like kimchi, but instead, was mushy, salty, and disgusting. there was also green peas in the fried rice that really spoiled the mood. the presentation of the dishes were wonderful, but that’s where the compliments end. the best tasting part of the dish was the small portion of kimchi at the side of the rice. it was the only thing that tasted remotely like kimchi in the dish.
the pad thai was also served with a blob of kimchi, which was odd because pad thai is a thai dish. the dish was otherwise underwhelming and unimpressionable.
as for the atmosphere, there were HUGE flies trying to get to us and our food while we were eating. we had to keep swatting them away and making sure they didn’t land on our food. it’s also a really small place with limited seating. there are toilets available on site, though we didn’t use them. there is no free drinkable water provided.
some other things to note — i’m not entirely sure why there was no spoon provided with the fried rice. i’m sure people worldwide use a spoon for a rice-based dish. the man at the cashier also didn’t seem too sure about the drink items. we wanted to order the vitasoy that was displayed on the counter, but he keyed it in as coconut water. we ended up not purchasing a drink.
otherwise, service was decently quick but the food was a huge disappointment. the fantastic reviews seem to be very fake, with a lot of them being from new accounts with only one or two reviews. the images are also reused for different reviews, and if you look closely, some of the images aren’t even real images of the food. overall, this place wasn’t worth the money at all, and i will never come back or recommend this...
Read moreThe old man who took the order was very unprofessional.. He couldn't control his emotions.. I ordered and he paid me right away and that's what I saw from the first ordered before me.. That they paid after the order.. So I didn't have a problem and I paid by card.. After, I heard that old man arguing with his colleague who was in the kitchen and old man raised his voice even though there were customers eating in the restaurant.. I didn't pay attention because I didn't I know the reason.. After a few minutes a delivery driver "glovo" came, the driver showed the order number and immediately told him in a high voice that "the order is not finished yet, get out first" I was shocked because if he could speak to The driver thought he was talking to not human being.. And when I was about to leave, I said thank you and have a nice evening.. But he just said "wait" .. He said "your not paid, you leave right away without pay" I was shocked, he was the one who charged me first and that's exactly what he does to charge immediately after getting the order.. So I said "I already paid, did you charge me right away earlier" when his voice immediately raise he said "no I haven't paid yet, I haven't closed the system yet" I showed him the apps of my bank on the phone that deducted from their restaurant that I had actually paid.. He didn't believe and insisted that I hadn't paid yet.. so I did it, I took the receipt from my desk and showed him that in fact he gave me the receipt, that's when he believed that I had already paid.. And he told me "ok, sorry" as if he was angry.. He was angry with his colleague That's why everyone he meets raises his voice.. It's very unprofessional.. We're all the same people in this world.. Keep your feet on the ground.. You think that your high people to raise your voice if you want to even your...
Read moreWe had the tonkotsu ramen, Singaporean noodles and orange chicken. 🇸🇬 Singaporean noodles 6-10 - quite good! You can hear the stove roaring and wok clanging in the kitchen which is a good sign fried noodles and rice dishes might have a nice wok taste. 🍊 Orange chicken 5/10 - batter was okay, but could be crispier (not sure why Asian restaurants in Zagreb keep getting the batter wrong! Some even use breadcrumbs wtf!! Cornstarch!!!! Use cornstarch or potato starch pls!!). Unfortunately sauce was too tart (and I love sour food!). Defo needs more sugar or syrup to balance it nicely. I liked the zesty orange flavour! 🍜 Tonkotsu 4/10 - not quite there with the broth (should be richer and thicker. It tasted a little like the flavour from packaged ramen). Noodles were okay. Not too fond of chopped crab sticks in place of narutomaki 🍥. Pork was lean but dry and plain.
Overall not too bad! Costed us €41. Might go again to try something different. (😮💨 I have really lowered my expectations for Asian food in Zagreb. Yes, I used to work in my family owned Asian...
