We came to this place spontaneously and probably that was the issue. It looks like the guests who reserve tables are treated with much more respect and friendlier attitude that we were. First we had to wait a lot to be seated, and when the host showed us out table - it was the very first at the entrance, next to the door, and it was really cold there. I asked if we could seat at one of the other 2 free tables, but the host refused and said that they were full. By the way, the other 2 tables were given to the couples who arrived later than we did and who did not have reservations as well. When we were ready to order it turned out that 2 from 3 positions are already gone and not available.. After the order was finally placed we had to wait for around 40 minutes for risotto, ravioli and salad.. The bathroom is a disaster: only cold water, no soap in dispensers, full trash bins. As a plus on entering ladies restroom you may see men peeing. Why? Because ladies restroom leads to men’s and the door to the pissoir is open. Top of the evening: I ordered Aperol spritz. So did the girls at the nearest table. None of us drunk the “cocktail” because it tasted really bad. The girls left leaving their glasses full and I mentioned it to the server, explaining that something is clearly wrong with the taste. He didn’t apologise nor did he offer any solution. Instead he explained that the cocktail was 100% good. When I asked other waiter to bring it back to the bar, the first one said really loud “bring her something else”. I don’t believe this is a decent attitude to the guest and the correct way of fixing this sort of situations. The food was all right, but I would never come back, and after this visit I think that most of 5 star reviews were paid for...
Read moreThe worst konoba I have been to during my three weeks in Croatia. The 4.8 rating really confuses me.
Where do I even start. The server was seating guests without reservation when guests with reservation are standing right next to him, confused. I told the server that I wanted to sit outside, which he acknowledged, then proceeded to ask me the same question two more times, only to lead me to an inside table. I reminded him about sitting outside, then finally he swaps me with a couple who was just seated outside.
There was a single server for the whole place, inside and outside. The one busser who was helping him and bringing out food had no idea which table ordered which dish, going around asking who ordered the dish he was holding.
I ordered black risotto, which is a staple in Croatian konobas and usually takes only about 15 min to serve. I waited an hour and had to go ask the server whether my order was delivered to the kitchen.
And when it finally came out, it was the worst black risotto—or any risotto really—I have had. I have ordered black risotto about a dozen times over my three weeks in Croatia, and they all ranged from pretty decent to fantastic. This one was not even warm, blend blend, and had no seasoning I can recognize. Just black rice topped with parmesan cheese.
Croatian cuisine is fabulous, some of the best I have come across. But unfortunately my experience in this restaurant was so bad that it ruined an otherwise good day.
The only positive was that the server...
Read moreAfter reading other reviews we all really had high expectations about this restaurant. Maybe it was just a 'bad day' in the kitcheb, but whatever it was we were really disappointed by the dishes we got on the table. 3 of us ordered classic croatian dish 'veal ribs with baked potatoes' or "teletina ispod peke" (21€). Meat and potatoes arrived more cooked then baked, very pitful outcome of famous croatian peka which we are very proud of. Also selection of veal ribs was not the best, basically it was a lot of big bones with greesy fat. From my perspective it was more of greese then real meat. One person even returned dish and chose another one for replacament. It was unusual to wait 15-20 minutes for that replacament which was 'veal goulash' to arrive. I don't know why it took so long? What happened!? Goukash should be cooked houts ago and then just left to simmer on very low fire. And once it arrived it arrived without bread, so we had to order that separately, another waiting. Salad (mix and sopska) was good, nothing special, but it's hard to comprehend how bottle of olive oil could stay empty on the table. Also some beers from menu were not available.
Btw. For one person at our table this was second visit, first time that person had fantastic black risotto, I don't know did they change chef or what have bthey done but somebody should overview his cooking. Hope this wasn't our last visit and please consider this review as motivational one for...
