Restaurant Lanii — Restaurant in Dubrovnik

This was the only bad meal we had in all of Croatia - the restaurant itself is cute but the whole experience was horrific. We weren’t very hungry so we wanted some appetizers to share and a bottle of sparkling water. First off, the bottle of water was so marked up, literally 2x anywhere else you will go in the city. And you wouldn’t know until the check because it’s also not marked on the menu. The food….we ordered the hummus tapas plate and the olives were literally the lowest quality black olives you can find with ritz crackers. Hummus itself was mediocre at best…all of that for 18 euros. It was so sad and unappetizing. Then we got “fried cheese” and it’s like they heated up some frozen mozzarella sticks. Perhaps if we ordered something else it would’ve been fine but given our experience, I would never recommend anyone to come here. Would not recommend for 2 main reasons: Food was appalling: Fish platter for one was not fresh and the fish was bland, mussels taste exactly like those frozen packs you can find in Iceland (the UK supermarket) Teriyaki chicken was so tough that it’s worse than what I cook for my dog. Besides, the portions were so underwhelming that my cousins (15M and 14F) were hungry even after finishing a whole plate Seafood stew is equally disappointing because the mussels were again not fresh, and ironically, is not very warm Service was poor: They clearly didn’t plan for adequate room for customers to get in and out of the restaurant. Had to squeeze in a tiny gap between tables because we were asked to sit inside Staff was not friendly. May I suggest that you are unlucky if a guy with a tattoo on the left side of his neck serves you.

Overall: a tourist scam, my mum even got a bit unwell...

Stay AWAY ! Ordered shrimp tempura (4 pieces) with rice which was good but small portion. My daughter order mussels and I ordered the captain's platter for 36Eu. Mussels on both orders were salty and then after having two of them, they were bad. My daughter then ordered shrimp tempura - a smaller portion than my wife's. The only thing good was the size of our drinks. They charged full price on the captain's platter while 1/2 of the meal was bad. I asked for the chef or owner - and none showed up. What a disgrace that a chef would serve bad food. The bread was from the supermarket and was plain white bread. Terrible experience. We left to go get a pizza as everyone was still hungry - what a disgrace of a restaurant. The worst part is that our lovely tour guide, Romana, recommended this restaurant and has lived here...
