Restaurant Labrax - Fish & Wine bar — Restaurant in Grad Zadar

I wanted to try some kind of "Michelin star" restaurant, but not so much expensive and posh, when I suddenly came across Labrax - and it really worth a visit! Waitresses there are naturally really nice people(not because they "have to be", like in some other restaurants), there is enough space around tables(good for personal comfort zone, because in some another restaurants you breath on your neighbours back) and food is just excellent - very nicely served, fresh and super tasty(from view of normal, not hardcore gurman person - like me). I tried their tasting menu of 5 dishes. Also offer of local quality wines is great. I will definitely return here, when I am back in Zadar again. Thank you!

Update: after 3 months I was again in Zadar with my wife in september and we again visited Labrax restaurant. The restaurant looked much more popular than in june, so there were many more guests this time, then before. We got places to sit, which were very close to two other tables - which can be very uncomfortable for some guests(like me) - it's like sitting with strangers, brrrrr..... In june we got some nice small fish starter with bread, before food for free. In september we got only bread, without this fish starter. The final feeling was like, that the restaurant team is working really very hard to satisfy the increased amount of guests, but because of objective reasons the feeling from the restaurant is not so much intimate...

If you find yourself wandering the charming streets of Zadar, stop everything and head straight to Labrax. This place is a knockout. The food? Absolutely delicious. Every bite felt like a love letter to the Adriatic Sea. I’m talking perfectly dry-aged seabass that melts in your mouth and black risotto arancini that’s pure crispy, creamy magic.

But it’s not just the food that gets you, oh no! The vibe here is something special. The team at Labrax isn’t just working a shift; they’re living their passion. You can feel the love in the way the waitstaff eagerly tells you about the wines, or how the chefs craft each dish like an artist putting the final brush stroke on a masterpiece. It’s that genuine excitement that turns a meal into a memorable experience.

The atmosphere? Elegant but chill! you’re classy, but comfy. Great music, a sleek setting, and local wines that perfectly complement the fresh seafood dishes.

We were looked after by young Ivan, who was working his first shift here. He knew all of the dishes and was very happy to provide guidance. A good sign.

Started with some oysters and champagne. Delicious. Then progressed to the very reasonably priced five course taster menu, which contained some absolute delights.

Wine options lovely.

Service top notch.

Atmosphere convivial and pleasant, a family table of eight sat to one side of us, and a trio of friends to the other side and everybody seemed to be having a lovely time enjoying great food in a delightful setting.

Stairs to the main entrance might be a bit tricky for reduced mobility. Happy to report the place was kept impacably clean.
