Food - for me it's really occasional visit here as main offer is a piece of baguette with various toppings - nonsweeet, either fish, meat or vegetarian options. Combinations I tried were made visually very attractive and taste was good and well balanced. Than they offer some sweets in the form of mini cakes and cookies which are in my opinion really small. Those I tried were nothing satisfying but definitely not badly tasting. Mini version of cooked main dish is third option which at the time if my visit offered some shrimps in sesame oil sauce, pork with mashed potatoes, duck breasts (two small thin peaces), potato fries "pancake" with cabbage and something what looked like caviar. Tried shrimps and pork, it was good but if you plan to come there hungry, be prepared to eat 4-5 at least of them.
Atmosphere - modern nice design, long tables, view through large windows inside into atrium.
Prices: Prices are definitely high, if you look at the portions it's very well hidden and you have feeling it's reasonably priced but if you compare the portion with proper meal, you will realize you are over paying here. The trick is that some of the foods have two sticks instead of one, and that means it's price is double compared to those with just one stick. However that's the price for the possibility to have 10 different foods during one evening. So if you are into this kind of dinner or just isn't that much hungry and want to have just a bit of snack from time to time, go for it.
Unusual concept: The whole concept is made in a way of self service, while employees just collect dishes and serve you drinks.
Drinks - They seem to specialise gins and tonics however good selection of wines and other typical bewergas is at the selection.
Overall - occasional visit if you want to show your friends unusual way have...
Read moreVery interesting concept: They are seeing variety of very small serving for reasonable price. You go and choose them on the bar yourselves. They have wonderful shrimps, selection of Czech-style open sandwiches and mutch more. The price is determined by number of sticks stuck to the meal - either regular (Kč 33) or double. Sometimes before closing the replace some sticks with pink ones indicating discount. They have big selections of gins and tonics and they will prepare you gin-tonic from any combination of these (although they have some recommended combinations). Reservation is highly recommended.
Edit: You know these places ... but in this case it happened so quickly ... the places, which are so good, cool concept, good food, friendly service ... everybody wants to go there, it's almost impossible to get there without reservation, it's even hard to get the reservation ... and then something happens ... perhaps it's too big pressure for them, perhaps the fame entered their heads, perhaps the founders stopped closely looking at their employees, perhaps they think they've already earned enough ... suddenly there's no longer such choice of food, the friendliness of the waiters goes even below what's Czech "standard" non-care ... and than the facial expressions and sounds they make when you don't leave then why tip. Well, the tip or the lack of thereof is, at least for me, based on your current performance, not fame. Lack of the tip means that I'm less likely to come next time, and if I do come, it's me giving you second chance, so...
Read moreWe were welcomed by a lovely front of house, who explained the concept to us in detail (it's self-service, put your sticks in the metal container, sticks get counted at the end, one stick is 29czk). The cold food was at the front and the hot food around the corner. The first few things I got were cold sandwiches - the (I think) roast beef one was very very stale and hard and the egg salad one didn't actually taste of much. It definitely could have benefitted from some seasoning. But the Bruschetta one was delicious as were the rest. Very interesting flavours!! The only one I absolutely didn't enjoy was the hot dog as it was a thin sausage in a big stale bun and lots of toppings, which I didn't think worked well together. That's just my palette - it might suit another person better. On to the drinks: we weren't surprised that we got charged for tap water - it's been a common theme in Prague. I ordered a raspberry lemonade (pictured) which tasted like crushed raspberries mixed with sparkling water. Quite sour. The atmosphere was great. We booked a table and we were seated straight away. Although, it didn't look like anybody was waiting outside so I'm sure it would have been fine to arrive at that time (8pm) if you came as a 2. Overall we had a nice time. It seems like the type of place people come to for a drink and a nibble, rather than...
