Our visit to Tiskárna was entirely unplanned, a last-minute walk-in on a busy evening. The restaurant was bustling, yet the welcome we received was warm and efficient. A gracious lady at the door immediately consulted with her colleagues and, within moments, had found us a cosy table for two. That small gesture set the tone for the evening: attentive service that never felt rushed, even in a full house.
My wife, a very delicate eater with specific dietary needs, was quickly reassured by the menu’s thoughtful variety. For her, the Šumavský trout fillet proved to be an inspired choice. The fish was flawlessly cooked, tender, flaky, and carrying the gentle sweetness of fresh trout. It was paired with a light, well-balanced sauce that complemented rather than overpowered, and accompanied by delicate potatoes that were clearly made with skill and care. Their texture was airy yet substantial, each bite melting away with satisfying finesse.
For myself, I chose the beef Goulash from matured beef tenderloin sourced from Seletický Dvůr. It arrived beautifully presented, the aroma alone hinting at the depth of flavour within. The beef, aged to perfection, was so tender it practically fell apart at the touch of the fork, a testament to both the quality of the meat and the precision of the cooking. Rich, savoury, and deeply satisfying, it was the kind of dish that lingers in memory long after the plate is cleared.
Our waiter, Rosta, deserves special mention. His service was polished yet personable, striking the perfect balance between professionalism and warmth. His wine recommendation paired seamlessly with our meal, a thoughtful match that elevated the experience without overshadowing the food.
Tiskárna delivers more than just a meal; it offers an experience rooted in quality ingredients, skilled execution, and genuine hospitality. Even as last-minute guests on a busy night, we felt welcomed, cared for, and left thoroughly impressed. It is the sort of place where the details, from the way you are greeted to the last sip of wine, are as carefully considered as the...

Thank you for your reply. To clarify, my review focused on the low quality and inconsistency of the food, not the shortened menu itself. With fewer dishes, I expected top quality, but portions were small and inconsistent. For example, some guests received a proper amount of sauce, while others got just a small splash, which should not happen.
I hope this feedback is helpful for future group visits.
We visited as a larger group and were disappointed to find that the menu was significantly reduced, which we hadn’t been clearly informed about beforehand. Despite the limited options, the prices remained quite high, and unfortunately, the quality didn’t match.
The Svíčková was especially underwhelming – a very small portion for the price, and it tasted like it was thrown together from leftovers. The meat, lemon, cranberries, and a minimal amount of sauce just didn’t come together well.
Other dishes like the tartare and pickled cheeses came in an odd pairing with a bagel and were quite oily. That might come down to personal preference, but it didn’t work for most of us.
Even though the restaurant knew we were coming as a larger group, the service was slow and not particularly friendly, which added to the overall...
Read moreExcellent restaurant offering typical Czech food and great beer!
The service was very nice and friendly, although it could have been faster (the restaurant was half empty during our visit). It was not a problem to communicate in English and the menu was also multilingual (Czech/English).
The food was great, well seasoned and nicely paired with side dishes, my only complaint was the portion sizes, which were somewhat smaller than in similar types of restaurants. The leg of rabbit with spinach was very tender and juicy, the pork knee tasted great but unfortunately did not have that crusty skin we all love, and the cauliflower pancakes were a very nice and tasty surprise. The beer was the best! With perfect temperature - the mixed beer (rezane pivo in Czech - half pilsner light beer and half dark beer) was the highlight for me. There are not many restaurants in Czech that can properly serve this kind of beer!
The interior of the restaurant is modern and welcoming with a great atmosphere. The location is also excellent, located on a busy street with the possibility of sitting outside. Reservations are recommended during rush hours. Payment by card without any problem. Visited in August 2022.
