Bar GINGER — Restaurant in Prague

I popped in only for quick drink and ended up staying quite a bit longer :)

I think it's a new bar that hasn't been open long. The barmaid was friendly and helpful and spoke good english. It's got a very cosy atmosphere. The bar was underservedly quiet when we got there but got livelier as the evening went on.

They have a nice selection of cocktails with not just the standard drinks you might find elsewhere. I tried the more unusual cocktails but did end up having 2 long islands to finish the evening which were comfortably strong. The barmaid was also happy to make an off-the-menu non-alcholic drink for my partner which was appreciated.

The bar itself was nice – cozy atmosphere, good drinks, and overall a pleasant place to spend time. The service was a bit on the slower side, but still okay and nothing too serious.

However, I had a negative experience when it came to paying the bill. The waitress (a blonde woman) tried to add an extra 1,000 CZK to the tip, asking for 1,070 CZK instead of the 70 CZK I had intended. It felt like she was hoping I wouldn’t notice because I’m a foreigner.

Ginger is an okay bar with friendly service, but there were some issues. The place was smaller and darker than expected, which made it feel a bit cramped. The drinks were hit or miss—my friend and I ordered the same cocktail, but mine was too sweet, and theirs was too strong. It was also too warm inside, and even though the air conditioning worked, the staff didn’t want to turn it on because they didn’t like how it felt.
