as asians, we had come to check out this dim sum place that seemed to garner a lot of good reviews. wow were we disappointed. the dough was incredibly thick, most of the dim sum wrappers had already broken, and though it was incredibly aesthetically pleasing, my taste buds thought otherwise. we ordered the Pork dim sum : not bad, pretty average. very odd textures seeing how the dough was so thick. chicken dim sum : wow literally the worst i have ever tried. they tried to add some extra spices that really just DIDNT work. the dough for this one was also horrendous, hard and thick and it just wasnt good. pork and shrimp shumi (siomai) was the best. classic flavours and decent wrap. Quite oily though. small meat broth - forgettable. The broth could barely pass as broth, it was so weak.
There were also no small sauce dishes to mix your soysauce and vinegar in - which is essential to eating dumplings.
all in all, we were pretty disappointed since all the google reviews raved about this place. no issues with the staff or the area though, the woman who served us was perfectly nice and the...
Read moreA very simple, small place in a courtyard with great jiaozi. They serve some in the traditional yuanbao shape as well as momo and larger ones that look more like "baskets" that weren't really baozi. But all were delicious.
Be warned, however, that the wrappers are thick and more like "peasant" style than the Cantonese dim sum style of very thin wrappers that many might be accustomed to. I personally like the thicker style.
They're all available steamed or panfried.
There are many types and many vegan types. We tried fake duck, fake chicken, and pumpkin/peanut ones. The pumpkin ones were a bit surprising since i was expecting something more along the lines of Italian pumpkin ravioli, but after the initial "taste surprise", we found them excellent.
They also had vegan Kimchi (kimchi is often made with fish sauce so isn't vegan). It was fine, but a bit too much like sauerkraut.
The server was polite, helpful, and attentive. Definitely will go...
Read moreI’ve always enjoyed the dumplings, having tried them previously at the Letná branch, and this was my third visit, this time to this location. While the food quality remained satisfying, unfortunately, the service experience here was disappointing. When we arrived, the garden was completely empty. We kindly asked to sit at a table we preferred, but were told we couldn’t, which we understood since it was set for four and we were only two. However, when we requested another table, the staff member seemed visibly unhappy and unwelcoming. What made the experience more uncomfortable was when taking our order, there was no eye contact or friendliness, and we felt completely ignored. While I still enjoy the food, I will likely choose other branches in the future, where I’ve always felt...
