The food at Lokál U Jiráta is amazing! The dishes feel very local with the touch of pub food flavors that you can pair with a cold Czech beer. If you're looking for reasonably priced food that has authentic flavors but without losing the pub ambience, this is definitely your place. Be ready to wait 15-20 minutes when it's packed, but if you get lucky like us on a Thursday night, you can get in within just a few minutes
We had the pickled Camembert which has very nice combination of flavors, and since it was a cold winter day, we got the cabbage and sausage soup, and trust me, that was one of the best comfort foods I've ever had.
Our mains took a while to arrive to the table, but our server, a sweet lady, offered us an apology for the big delay and treated us with a free dessert (a delicious curd cheese apple pie). For the main we had the very very tasty beef goulash, it's served with a white bread that absorbs the flavors of the sauce and it's a real pleasure to eat.
We also tried the beef roll with bacon and boiled egg, that one was also amazing!
I'd read many blogs recommending Lokál and now I can see why. Keep in mind there are a small number of Lokál restaurants around Prague, and some take reservations, U Jiráta doesn't as it's...

We really enjoyed their beef and dumplings. A must.
Their tartar was okay but the side bread was so well done. The raw garlic to rub was smt different for us that we loved.
Soup was hearty.
In general food was very salty for us but i think this is either Prague thing or Czech thing. It has been a consistent theme eating out in Prague.
The server was quite nice to us (compared to Prague standard and given that we are tourists lol) so we tipped him rounding up the bill, which he really appreciated and became suddenly nicer at the very end lol
I wonder if servers in Prague are rude to tourists or Asian tourists due to tipping issue or discrimination. Not sure yet. Either way they should be nice but our experience has been very unpleasant in Prague when it comes to service. It could be cultural difference (expectations etc) but what I noticed is their different behavior towards Czech vs...

We really wanted to try the fried cheese so mage it out here in our last night in the city.
The venue is a pub that looks quite modern with it's wall decor and white walls but still retains old world charm with the wooden accents and curtains. Staff was very efficient and friendly. We had a very short wait and were seated quickly. Ordered the fried cheese and the carp.
The cheese was as good as fried cheese can be! They serve it with potatoes and tartar sauce. The cheese is perfectly gooey and warm till the last bite.
The carp was cooked well and a nice lighter meal.
The food was good. Not mind blowing, not exceptionally cheap or anything. It was filling, fresh and exactly what was described but nothing memorable. However, if you are visiting Prague it's a great place to eat the local...
