Decided to visit this place for lunch while visiting Prague with friends: mainly due to positive reviews. The dish (tonkotsu) was underwhelming to say the least – the broth was bland and greasy, the pork belly was as thin as a paper, unseasoned and unroasted, and the egg wasn't marinated sufficiently. Returned 90% of the dish back as I'm not willing to eat something I find inedible, quite frankly. Compensation – the waitress said she was sorry and asked if she could bring anything else instead. I went here for an authentic ramen specifically and having the privilege to taste my friends's orders – the kimchi ramen (powdery kimchi spice overpower) and the vegan ramen (celery root and parsley, here I come), I wasn't interested in eating anything else at this place. It was nice of her to ask, no complaints in that department. But the fact that she spoke a foreign language with her friends/colleagues right after and they started to laugh while she carried the dish back to the kitchen was extremely uncomfortable. Not to mention the fact that they were staring at me afterwards. Went to have lunch at a different place by myself as my friends and I were in a hurry to leave Prague on that day and I was still hungry as hell. Afterwards, I found out that the waitress charged full price for the meal... Which is okay, I guess, but I highly discourage you to eat at this establishment while visiting Prague. This is a subpar place to eat at – whether it comes to the food or the...
Read moreAt long last Prague is discovering Ramen and several restaurants are now opening. Miska Ramen definitely deserves a lot of credit for this thanks to their pop up stands over a long period of time, introducing people to the delightful meal.
The ramen bar currently offers two or three small starters, lots of kinds of ramen (duh), and drinks. The ramen is definitely a great one and will not let you down, there's 5 types to choose from, from regular tonkotsu to spicy tan-tan with minced meat (personal favorite) as well as a veggie option.
The broth is nice and strong, portions are a good filling size, and all ingredients tasted great. It would be nice if the noodles were a little harder as is tradition, or if there was the option to pick their hardness. Personally one of my favorite parts of a ramen is the pickled egg, and while the ones here tasted great they could definitely be pickled for a little longer or flavoured a bit more.
If you like ramen then don't miss out, as this is definitely one of the best places in Prague to find some. At the time of writing this review the bar has only been opened about a week so I'm sure things will only improve from an already great experience to a...
Read moreEdit after 3 years: We returned to Miska Ramen when walking around during a rainy day. We got one Pork-Chicken ramen and another Beef ramen. Both were very tasty and satysfying. It wasn't the best i had but then again i had hundreds of ramen all around the world. Still I'm very happy the place got it right this time and I'll come again.
2022:First of all Tonkotsu ramen is terrible at this place. The ramen felt very heavy and milky, but not in a tasty way. It was just very fat version of ramen without the proper taste. The pork belly was not burned at all, just boiled and that was very disappointing. One of the worst pork belly in ramen we tried in a while. We returned the ramen to the waitress, she offered a new one, but didn't offer any other compensation. Which is not a must but it doesn't add to the overall review of course. Kimchi ramen was OK, but most of the taste goes away with kimchi. Vegan ramen was mediocre, we had much better veggie ramens in many different places this one was very average. The eggs we're cooked OK, but they lacked the marinade.
FYI I didn't take pic of the Tonkotsu as we returned right away and our friend ended up with...
