I recently visited Bevi Bevi in Copenhagen with a group of friends (we were 7 in total), and while the overall experience was enjoyable, I have to admit I was a bit underwhelmed by the set menu this time.
The concept of the restaurant is a fixed menu with several courses brought to the table throughout the evening. The service was incredibly kind and attentive, and we felt very comfortable and at ease during the whole dinner — which made for a great atmosphere.
That said, the food itself felt a bit too simple and not very filling. We started with a fennel-like salad with just a couple of orange slices and some olives. We also had sliced fresh tomatoes with olives, which again felt quite basic. The prosciutto with melon was nice but very classic, and the portion of cannelloni (just one per person) was quite small.
The highlights for me were the burrata with cherry tomatoes, creamy and flavorful, and the vitello tonnato, which was well-executed. Still, compared to past visits my friends had, the menu this time felt less creative and a bit disappointing. In the end, Bevi Bevi feels more like a place to go for drinks with friends, where you can have a few small bites on the side, not necessarily a spot you’d go to for a meal focused solely on food. Hopefully next time the menu will feel...
Read moreOverall alright experience, but certainly not the best Italian in Copenhagen. The best part of the set course was the first dish - slices or raw scallop with pine nuts and red peppers. From there the cod and potato mash was way too salty and not presented in the most appetizing way! The stracciatella was quite delicious but again lacked the presentation to back! This place is meant to be about comfort food I know, but still. The veal with tuna wasn’t impressive, and again over salted - here again presentation came to mind. Tip: have a look at what the big mamma group are doing in their Paris restaurant pink mamma, both on presentation and certainly also flavor. The polenta fritta con ragu tasted like a piece of old bread with some relatively tasty ragu, but disappointing. The naked pasta to end was dry and the tomato sauce was nice, but it stole the show from the prize on the plate. Service was good, very friendly! Would like to come back, and any day I would say to cut down on the number of plates and aim for quality over quantity. It was a lot of half mediocre food for a pretty steep price tag for...
Read moreThis a wine bar and the wine is indeed in focus, they have a very nice selection and the prices seems fair. I was there to eat, we hand the 7 course bar menu, and enjoy a glass of wine. The food was average, one of dishes was a complete disappointment, the ceviche was tasteless and boring, and have nothing to do with ceviche. the dessert was also a bit of a disappointment. On the other end of the scale the octopus salad was amazing. Service was fair, in the start of the service the waiters was fast and welcoming, but the end of the service they where not present and very sloppy, they did not bother to introduce the dishes. The wine I ordered came for the second serving and we ended up waiting more than 20 minutes for dessert as the waiters where to busy browsing there mobile. The wine was quite good and served at a perfect temperature, and the biodynamic sodas...
