I'm British and I came to Cafe Sorgenfri with an Argentinian friend (J). Our experience here was very negative.
We were very polite and friendly guests. Our first waiter was overbearing and condescending. The other member of staff (an old man with glasses) was so aggressive, rude and angry that he astonished us.
When we went to pay our bill, the old man was so aggressive that J began to panic. The old man rolled his eyes, groaned loudly, became red-faced and raised his voice to shout at us. He refused to split the bill for us, because “You are only two!” He even slammed the card machine down hard on the table, when J asked if he could pay by card. We paid. He spat "Thank you... Goodbye..." in a dismissive tone, as if we should leave as soon as possible.
Other reviews have described similar experiences, especially towards foreign customers. Is this man a nationalist or a xenophobe?
The food was traditional Danish food. The pricing was reasonable. The decor was very old-fashioned Danish style.
You should only eat here if you can tolerate giving your money to such a...
Read moreNot foreign-friendly. They serve good Danish food but the regular waiter is a racist in the closet! I used to take my guests there until one day I took my turkish friends there. I chose specifically 14.00 so we wouldn't be there for rush hour, yet the waiter ignored the fact we were there for 10 min, then when he approached and we asked questions about the menu, he was very rude to my friends, talking down to them and when I told him in Danish that he could speak a little nicer to them, he asked us to leave, complaining that it was hard enough to wait all the tables alone. But honestly? We were only 3 people plus 2 swedes at the next table... And no matter how stressful the days is, I don't think taking it out on the customers is right! What a pity... So if you are foreigner, don't expect any kindness, just good danish food with danish...
Read moreMyself and 4 British friends visited here a short while ago on a recommendation from a local Danish friend. Upon entering the restaurant an older man with glasses told us that they were fully booked, despite the restaurant seemingly only about 40 per cent full. This man was very rude and condescending to us. He told us that the next available day for booking was in 3 months time, despite an online restaurant booking site saying there was availability the next hour! As we left this gentleman, who had been described several times in other 1 star reviews muttered a series of expletives under his breath. We were simply 5 polite young respectable gentlemen, keen to get a taste of authentic Danish cuisine, yet we were rejected and talked to in a rude manner. Avoid at all costs. This one is for the locals only and not...
