Det Vide Hus — Restaurant in Copenhagen Municipality

Popped into this quirky little café across from the Botanic Gardens with my daughter, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our day. It’s got this cozy, creative vibe — like someone’s artsy flat filled with plants, mismatched tables, and handwritten signs everywhere. Super laid-back and friendly.

I had the avocado toast, and honestly, it was spot-on — super crispy sourdough, creamy avo with lemon and chili, and just enough salt to make it addictive. One of those simple things done really well.

My daughter went for the fruit granola, which came piled high with beautiful chopped berries and fresh, thick yogurt. She was delighted (and so was I — I definitely stole a few bites). Everything looked so colorful and fresh, it just made you happy to eat it.

We also tried one of their juices — served in the cutest little glass bottle, full of bright fruit flavors and herbs. Can’t even remember the combo, just that it was delicious and felt like summer in a sip.

And of course, the coffee was great — strong, smooth, and exactly what I needed after walking around the city. We sat by the window, people-watched, and just soaked it all in.

Definitely a spot I’d come back to — especially with her.It was fun, relaxed, and just the right amount of special!

Terrific time before spending a day at the castle/grounds.

Food was excellent, thoughtfully prepared and a reasonable serving. The best breakfast sandwiches yet in the city if you're looking for something in a more north american style (i.e. egg/bacon/cheese), but refined and well made.

Coffees were great, espresso was well pulled, and the hand pour over was a great expression of the beans. Again, nice attention to detail and craft there.

Service was polite and friendly, they even treated us to a small (delicious) sample of freshly spun ice cream and a no-charge babyccino for our two year old toddler.

Single bathroom upstairs but it was clean and spacious. If your mobility is limited you might have issues getting upstairs, it's a small spiral staircase.
