Duck and Cover - Cocktailbar — Restaurant in Copenhagen Municipality

When I say this is one of my favourite bars on earth I say it with the assurance of someone who has taken a drink on all but one continent and is a seasoned hospitality veteran. I have patronised some of the finest establishments earth has to offer and likely some of the extra-terrestrial establishments in my future, such is the extent of my seasoned drinking. I walked into this bar and very quickly realised that it's not a place one goes to simply drink, but instead to participate in the nightly celebrations curated by the hosts behind the bar. The vibes shift delicately but distinctly with the combination of those who work each evening. I've been lucky enough (due to my extensive revisiting) to be served by almost* all of the staff, and can confidently say that every time I walk across the threshold it feels as if I am welcomed into the living room of an old friend; pleasantly surprised to see me and warmly received. What a special love letter this place is to juicy drinks and playful conversation, a masterclass in synthesising serendipity and atmosphere. I couldn't possibly delineate my love of Copenhagen from my time spent in this bar and the sense of home it's afforded me so quickly. Duck and Cover is an imperative part of anyone's visit to the city, it is a very special place that is so much more than the sum of its parts. Duck and Cover (Copenhagen) Visit Date: May 27, 2023 Awesome hospitality and top notch mixology. The bar team truly made me feel welcome and almost like a regular even though it was my first visit to their establishment (and in fact my first trip to Copenhagen)! Drinks are well balanced and extremely well thought out, using unique regional ingredients that you might not ever have tasted if you’re from another part of the world. It certainly was my first experience with bog myrtle - they do an awesome sour style cocktail based on it, and even offered a taster of the snaps (liqueur) it makes. The bar team is globally experienced, and really knowledgeable. They’ll tell you more about the drinks and the mixology scene if you want, or they’ll hang out and chat about anything else. This is an interesting place for a craft cocktail. They are really well made - but they have a very characteristic spirit… made with some ingredients that you do not find any where else - for instance a drink with kantarels in it. Never tried that before.

My wife, our grown daughter and myself dropped by a Wednesday evening in JAN 2025 for a cocktail. The place was quite crowded but we were able to get a table by the window next to the entre. They took our order fairly quickly and the cocktails were served shortly thereafter - so no prob. I enjoyed all three cocktails, my wife liked two of them, and my daughter liked only one.
