Highly disappointed. Not authentic nor fresh.
My partner and I love Mexican food and drinks, and all-you-can-eat/drink, so we were super eager to try this place, foolishly thinking we may have found our dream restaurant. After all, Mæxico state they love Mexican food too, they had a new small menu, so €100 for two seemed like a reasonable deal. Unfortunately, we found no love at this place. It seems they have picked a trendy theme, feeling like a temporary pop-up place, cutting all costs, prioritizing cost-effective solutions, using semi-finished products. Even the Margaritas tasted weak, old and flat, clearly premade. The service was unattentive and not motivated, and we had to request everything from the bar. We ended up only having one serving of tacos because they left a unpleasant aftertaste of old rank cooking/frying oil. Even though the tacos were all varied (meats, seafood, veg) they tasted alike and bland, and they were tepid/cold. There was also an distinct Tamil or Indian style cumin flavor to the food, otherwise there was little direction, spice or bite to the food. It was the least flavorful Mexican food I ever had, the cauliflower taco especially sad. We appreciated it when the kitchen staff made a new version with spices on the spot (again Asian styled), but it didn't make much difference at this point as we were sickened from the rancid aftertaste. The nachos and salsa were OK. The margaritas were too sweet and weak, but the waiter kindly added some tequila to liven them up. The small IPA-like pilsner was very tasty and would otherwise go very well with authentic Mexican food.
We left with an unpleasant aftertaste and a feeling of being ripped off. For what we had, we pay way too much. I will not return and would not recommend it to anyone who's passionate about authentic Mexican food. I could tell the Mexican waiter...
Read moreMæxico is a great place to have a well-made casual food experience. Everything has a reference to Mexico. Fonts in the menu, clouds one the wall and of course the food - all have a well manage reference to the Central American country. The restaurant aims at a young audience - either be age or heart. The food is well made, drinks are fine. We had Ceviche and Tuna Tostada for starters, which both tasted great and was severed colorfully and decorated. For the main menu we had Tacos. All of them. The tacos are served on big wooden cut-boards that unlined the authentic atmosphere. They looked and tasted great. However, they are small - only a mouthful or two. One the side we had Pico De Gallo (fresh salsa), guac cup (guacamole) and a the trio of hot sauces. All in all a great meal. We choies to sit outside in the sun, over sitting inside in a loud uninspiring room - music- & decoration-wise. A little strange to play friday night loud music on a Wednesday. Other guest choice the outside location as well. Another remark is that Danish is second language at the restaurant. For some this can be a problem. Not for us, however.
We had a great visit and will come back for sure - especially...
Read moreI was going to give this feedback through Tock where the restaurant asks for feedback of customers visits, but the platform did not let me once it was filled out so here it goes.
We got good recs for this place but it disappointed:
Tacos were all too salty Shrimp not cooked well In general too long waiting time (though it was on a regular weekday!!) - overheard some other customers who felt forgotten, too. We had to ask for the dessert to be served twice, and when it finally came, it was half-melted and without forks so we had to actively ask for those, too. We only got them as we finally got to ask another waitress, and she happened to have some leftovers from another serving. By that time, the soft serve were melted, and it got to be some lame churros with vanilla (watery) dip.
We just had to get it...
