Grød — Restaurant in Copenhagen Municipality

I absolutely love this place! We went to 2 different Grød’s while in Copenhagen and this one was better by far - I think it’s due to the frequency of customers coming in, but I want to give a huge thanks to the entire staff, which was totally on top of their game!

Love the flavor is the porridge and the variety of toppings. Also, they use high quality products such as Demeter flakes. I tried the “all-in” variety one morning, which was a bit too much. But creating your own is a great way to start the morning. Returned to this branch 3 times and wasn’t disappointed a single time. Also tried the chia, which is super tasty as well, but had more of a summer vibe for me.

They also have a large variety of hearty dishes, such as risotto and hearty porridge varieties. Didn’t try them but saw them while they were being prepared and they also looked absolutely delicious.

Until the day I die, or the day I get back to Grød for their Christmas menu, their barleyotto with Jerusalem artichokes will be the one dish I constantly crave and miss. Grød is this porridge loving gal's dream cone true so naturally I bee-lined it to their counter upon landing in CPH. It was cold and rainy and I warmed right up just watching them prepare all the dishes. They kept telling me that that dish wasn't for me as I stood up to see every dish being handed off. I couldn't help it - I just wanted to see EVERYTHING. Portions are generous. Ingredients high quality. Flavors completely unparalleled. They transform simple porridge into something artsy and craveable. My biggest regret was not buying their cookbook since I can't get it shipped to the states. Eat here. As much as possible. This branch of Grød is located in a market which per se is full of options for not only a breakkie but also for lunch or on the go snacks.

Where Grød is located is however inconvenient as it’s very close to two of the many entry doors to the covered market and, when chilly outside, sitting at stalls to enjoy breakfast might not be that… enjoyable 😳.

Apart from this negative point (which won’t get us to 4 stars) the food has been pretty good.

The porridge I took was literally loaded with hearty ingredients and the portion was really outstandingly generous: great to fuel you through the day.

Careful though which one you go for as mine was not hot/warm, but rather room temperature.

As a suggestion for the branch manager: any ideas to warm customers a bit and shield them from the windy automatic...
