Honestly? Okay.

Hype: 10 Vibe: 10 Ramen: 6

We got the most popular Spicy Miso, and I was actually disappointed that it wasn’t even a 8/10 in my books due to how popular it was. Maybe I’ve had too much ramen in my life, but here’s what I feel was lacking so if you’re the owner, you may take it as feedback to improve.

  1. the noodles are wrong. They’re not springy or slurpable, they resemble more soba noodles than ramen in texture
  2. the broth isn’t rich. A good ramen broth has been simmered for days and you can taste the silkiness and fattiness from the bones and meat. It should have the high gelatin content of a good bone broth.
  3. the broth is too salty. Which I think is a result of getting most of the flavour from miso. It really is a big miso bomb, plus chilli powder.
  4. spring onions are too strong. There is something about the spring onions here that are extra “oniony”, in Asia we have a milder flavour so we can put lots of it on. But for here the mountain of spring onions they just gave me bad onion breath

I will say the meat was the most successful element of the dish, it was tender and tasted good.

My review is to help other ramen hunters like myself. If you are lacking salt in your diet or if you want a hot soup on a cold day, this will hit the spot very nicely. But if you’re looking for a good soulful bowl of ramen, this isn’t the place (for now).

Another note about the price. This is a comparison of ramen prices around the world (in USD): Japan — $5-$10 Singapore — $7-$12 USA — $14-$18 Ramen To Biiru — $20

Now without getting into the details of economics and food prices and the cost of labour, I just want a $20 bowl of ramen to taste like a $20 bowl of ramen....

My friends Yen and her husband Chai they work in the kitten. But I never try to eat the noodles there. But then my little boy have birthday 13/09 then Yen give me borrow her staff card to get 30% discount to come and try the noodles. My husband he is Danish and he was like the noodles and ask my friend Yen to keep her staff card because we want to comeback and eat next weekend. But then one day I invited my friend in the Danish language school she also friend with Yen and Chai. We come and eat in Nørrebro closer from Clavis school. But I didn't get discount 30% and the guy who work there he was not give me the bill i also dont care the bill because i trust him. He take the staff card of my friend and not say anything that I get discount or not. I just think why when I go with my family I was get discount but not again in Nørrebro? And bring new customer to come and try the noodles because I told them that it good noodles in your restaurant. When I come I check my bank I can see that I not get discount. I will come back one day and talk with that guy who work there. That one he also work like a waiter, my friend who was eat with me she already say that he work look like angry just throw the noodles on table to us. Anyway I like the noodles. But I will not come Nørrebro. I can just go...

The best and most umami was angry uki. It had three kinds of pork, was meaty, and wasn't as spicy as it claimed to be.

The soup had nice flavour. My Japanese friend, with whom I went, mentioned that it seemed much like home. The portions were large and filled me up in half.

There were large lineups that ran outside the restaurant when I visited a few times during dinner hours.

I also ordered take a way once, the restaurant staff had hold me on called for 20 minutes. So, I went to take a take away and waited for 50 minutes (I completely understand as they were busy, no complaints about that)

But ramen was awful, noodles were prepared and kept in the fridge!!!!! (I was really disappointed on this). Thus, noodles broke while warming up, ruining the soup. I'm positive that I heated the ramen properly since I am an Asian and followed correctly instructions. I am pretty sure if the noodles were fresh and prepared at the time I ordered, noodles...

The most Japanese about this place is the items on display. Ordered a spicy ramen 3 from the menu with an additional egg. The food arrived ok fast, but that is about it. The flavor of the ramen broth, was nowhere to be found. It tasted mostly of a very very light broth with added Chilli. No substance, no layered flavors wanting you to sit by and slurp it all up. The amount of noodles where lackluster and as it isn't kaedama restaurant you don't get the option of added noodles, well not that you would want with that broth anyways. And of cause the piece of pork, well it seemed like I got the scraps. It was mostly cut into small pieces and not a whole piece. For a price that is over the top for a serving I wouldn't recommend this as a place to try ramen. There are more taste to instant ramen you buy from your local grocery store.
