Restaurant 1899 — Restaurant in Copenhagen Municipality

I have been here probably 6 or 7 times, and while the first visits were quite good, my last visit was average at best. They used to have an amazing piece of smørrebrød with shrimp. This is now off the menu card and instead replaced with egg/shrimp - while it did taste good, it is so far from the original one with less than half of the amount of shrimp usually served.

Staff is lukewarm, I would say. Sometimes cheerful, welcoming and kind, other times (more recently) not that accommodating towards guests, as though they don't really wish to be there.

Beer selection is not to my taste, their IPA is one of the worst out there because it lacks taste and intensity, but that's of course my personal opinion. When ordering snaps, they sometimes poor to the very very edge of the glass (as you should) - other times they stop pouring below the edge.

All in all it is unfortunately very inconsistent, and as of now it is far from being my first choice of smørrebrød among the many choices...

The food was delicious, but the behavior of one of the waitresses was very unpleasant. When we entered the restaurant with 2 small children, I was told that the table would be ready in 15 minutes and that we should come back after that time. Unfortunately, it suddenly started raining very heavily. I asked if we could wait inside. I would like to add that there were 4 empty tables, just not cleaned yet. The waitress said they had no waiting area and that we had to leave. If it hadn't been raining so heavily, I definitely wouldn't have stayed there for dinner. Fortunately, once we sat down, we were served by a different waitress, and the food...

If you want to experience great Smørrebrød in Denmark, this is the right place. The waiter is very experienced and friendly. The place is clean, and the food is of great quality. The price is perfect—affordable for many people and well worth spending for such a great meal! An easy 5-star rating!
