This used to be my favourite restaurant. It seems they have new owners who are very polite. But this is where my satisfaction stops. The prices have gone up; which in principle would be fine if the following problems weren't manifest:
The menu choices have become much more plentiful. The problem with this is that it is generally difficult to do too many things well. I find it to be true here.
The items on the menu are no longer specifically French. There are dishes from all over the world. Also a problem since the quality is sub-par compared to the old owners.
The quality has gone down & the place generally feels like a tourist trap though I fear that I may inadvertently find myself manifesting snobbery due to my recent disappointments.
I ate here two times since the change of owners & both times I asked, I was told that the same owners were in charge. But a little investigation seemed to disprove this claim. Being lied to is another thing which I disapprove of & I have lost faith in the restaurant.
My strong dislike of the restaurant is in effect an amalgamation of all of the above & I believe that despite my strong feelings due to nostalgia, I have tried to be truthful about my experiences (limited as they have been since...
Read moreThis place cheats you and serve Crémant but insists it is French Champagne by the glass and will try to charge you for it. We are big champagne drinkers so recognised straight away the it was a demi-sec Crémant, and not Nicolas Feuillatte as indicated on their menu. I took the suspect glass directly to the bar, and asked they pour me another glass from the bottle (I said it is a bit “off”). They continued to claim it is from that bottle which was just opened for me, so I offered to keep the suspect glass, and buy a new glass, but to be poured in front of me. The head waiter got angry, took my glass and just said “Leave !” and threw my husband and I out, despite having already ordered food and drinks. A young waiter who witnessed the whole thing just shrugged and said “he is the boss. I cannot do anything”. It was absolutely shocking and we have never had any experience like this (giving Prosecco or Cava and claim as Champagne, yes, but not to defend the lies like this and throw customers out when exposed). If I could rate 0 star, I...
Read moreAfter the waitress spilled two full glasses of aperol spritz all over us (jacket, shirt, jeans, shoes, backpack and even our phones) we were accused of causing the "accident" by moving in our chairs. Even other guests trying to explain that it was the waitress' fault didn't help. They said simply "this kind of things happen". After talking to them 5 minutes they finally offered to pay for our food and drinks - what a nice gesture. We refused, as my clothes were wet all over. They said they will not pay for dry cleaning, the waitress kept offering washing my shirt with water in the bathroom. With help from the family sitting behind us, the only thing the restaurant did was giving us their card and saying we can send them the invoice from the cleaning service. This is not how a restaurant should handle this kind of situations,...
