Review: A Cozy and Refined Dining Experience at Odette I recently visited Odette with my girlfriend for their evening menu — a 12-course “family style” dinner that beautifully showcased seasonal Danish ingredients with both creativity and comfort. The meal began with four small bites: chips with seaweed mayonnaise, marinated unripe peaches, oat crisps with cream cheese, and charcuterie from Troldgaarden. Among these, the charcuterie stood out the most — rich, flavorful, and clearly of high quality. My girlfriend especially loved the marinated unripe peaches, which were refreshing and full of bright acidity. The oat crisps with cream cheese, however, felt a bit bland compared to the other dishes. Still, the first serving overall was a pleasant and well-balanced start. The next round brought a more substantial set of dishes: beef tartare with pickled beech mushrooms, caramelized onion mayonnaise, and mushrooms, fried softshell crab with smoked lemon mayo and pickled red onions, grilled broccolini with smoked cheese cream and apple crudité, and airy Manitoba bread with wild garlic miso butter. The tartare unfortunately lacked a bit of salt, which was a shame, but the softshell crab was excellent — crisp, flavorful, and perfectly paired with the tangy mayo. And as always, Odette’s bread was outstanding: light, fragrant, and served with that addictive miso butter. For the main course, we enjoyed mixed greens with pickled mustard seeds, smoked almonds, and truffle vinaigrette, crushed potatoes with cold-pressed rapeseed oil, herbs, and Vesterhavs cheese, and cod with tomato bouillon, baked tomatoes, cabbage shoots from Kiselgården, and lovage. The salad was crisp and refreshing, and the fish was cooked to perfection — flavorful, juicy, and beautifully complemented by the tomato broth. The portions were generous, and everything tasted fresh and vibrant. The potatoes, though well-made, were the least exciting element of the plate. Dessert was a light and satisfying end to the evening: blueberry compote with yogurt sorbet, burnt white chocolate, and tart meringue. It was bright, balanced, and just the right amount of sweet after so many courses.
Overall, our experience at Odette was excellent — delicious food, polite and attentive service, and a cozy atmosphere that made the evening feel special. A place I would definitely recommend for anyone looking to enjoy refined Nordic flavors in a...
Read moreThe dinner experience was a bit of a flashback with other restaurants, who offer a set menu, to bring you to every corner of your taste palate, but when you have finished the menu; you are left more confused and without a signature dish experience, which would urge you to come back for more!
The 12 dishes served was not bad, but they did not hit the jackpot for me!
Example, I had the ribeye steak as main. Nice meat with peppercorn sauce to compliment, served with potatoes on the side and with pickled chanterelles as topping.......and as you can guess, the later knocked out the star of the main dish, including the wine!
A dish and the ingredients need to come together and amplify the dish, not pull you in every corner: sweet, sour, spiced, spicy, crispy, soft, etc., leaving you totally confused.
Best dish of the evening was the dessert: blueberry compote, with yoghurt sorbet, white chocolate and meringue.
Service was non existent, other than having your dishes served. From when we arrived and was seated, it took more than 20 min before first contact was made, to order drinks, as the menu was pre-ordered.
Sorry, but left the dinner as more confused guest at Restaurant Odette, than impressed, and not with an urge to come back!
Ironically, I can warmly recommend Odette Restaurant in Singapore, with a fantastic dinner experience, where you want to come...
Read moreBack today for lunch because the updated lunch menu looked delish. The restaurant, headed by a new chef since last time, now serves open sandwiches for lunch. Today's edition of open sandwiches can compete with the top 5 best lunch spots in Copenhagen: the cleverly composed flavours and textures and modern interpretations. It would have been a 5* review if the kitchen had not run out of the sandwich we came for: the 'Skagen toast', and if the waitress initially serving us had addressed our disappointment in a more carrying way. The rest of the service was excellent.
9 m ago 3*: As usual for this restaurant group, there were obvious flaws. The meat main course was not available today for lunch because the kitchen had not had time to prep for it... The bread serving, normally a highligt, consisted of toasted day old bread (with really nice whipped, seasoned butter). The tartare serving and the burrata lacked seasoning. The mussel sauce for the fish main lacked the finishing touch, and the potatoes seamed to have been reheated a couple of times (very nice citrus-braised baby cabbage as garnish). The lady fingers in the otherwise tasty, modern house tiramisu had a weird, spongy consistency. The one server on the floor today did a brave effort at navigating in this mess of a restaurant. Wake...
