If you are after an authentic experience in Copenhagen, don't miss this place. Tong Eng is an ordinary Chinese local restaurant that you'd probably find in the back alleys of Shangai or Beijing. But what makes the place special is the Grandma who does not only feed you but also treat your cold :)) Seeing me coughing and with blemishes on my face, she has put oinment on them, gave me a homemade medicine and ginger to treat my cough at home. With my non-existing Danish and her little English we chatted about world issues and she has sent me off with delicous beef & vegetables (heavy on ginger for obvious reason :) ) and homemade springrolls. Coming here feels like visiting someone grandma’s. She’ll ask you what you’re in the mood for and try and feed you more in between. She must be able to read minds because every dish I’ve gotten from here has been spot on. I especially love her spicy stir-fry! She has her own take of garlic chili sauce with homemade pickled chili.
