Museum of Natural History is a great place to explore plants, rocks, and animals.

The entrance price is fair, and the museum captivates everything you would expect from a national museum in terms of themes, although it feels a bit old and dated in terms of display. Overall, the building is old but charming, which is only a plus for a museum. There is a café, toilets, a big gift shop, free lockers with key to store personal belongings, and a section with planned activities (show and tell) for kids where they are allowed to touch the things. Overall, I recommend going. 4 stars because some of the permanent exhibitions need a loving hand to raise it to modern standards, expectations, and availability for non-danish speakers.

The museum is split into multiple areas: Three permanent exhibitions as well as a special exhibition which varies in theme:

Wild Wonderful World (Permanent Exhibition): Here, they have preserved animals of all sizes, from flies and butterflies to polarbears and lions. You can also find fossils here. It's a bit old-fashioned but well worth a watch. I particularly enjoyed the taxidermy collection as well as the displayed butterfly collection. There is something very satisfying about the way the butterflies (and flies) are displayed. They have danish and English text on everything.

Mineral Hall (Permanent Exhibition): They have a very large selection of very nice specimens of minerals, crystals, etc. Some are absolutely huge. I am very interested in geology, and having recently moved to Greenland, I find it very fascinating to see so many varieties found in Greenland. This area does feel very dated and lacks more emersion for the viewer. Some have explanations written out of how it is created, but most are danish only. It also feels quite technical and not that easy to follow. I wish they had done more with a video or something more visual. The collection is very cool to watch, though.

The Palm House in the Botanical Garden (Permanent Exhibition): Showcases varieties of plants. I ran out of time during my visit, so I did unfortunately not get a chance to see it.

Special Exhibition: When I visited the 100 selected photographs from Wildlife Photographer of the Year, it was displayed with category, photographer, and text. Very well lit and well set up. Obviously this is a temporary exhibition but I recommend visiting if you...

Nice meteorite at the entrance. Everything goes down hill after that. Very cheap entrance, but exhibition is frozen in the 1970s. For instance, there are some nice rocks from Jugosławia and Africa city. Most exhibitions are all in Danish and content wise they are equivalent to primary school geography class. Some rooms smell weird. On the second floor you will find and exhaustive collection of one (and sometimes two) of every rock on the planet. This sound fun, and it is for the first 3 minutes, but it is a bit like watching paint dry after that. One of the hallways in the otherwise nice building seemed to be painted by the local kindergarteners with blindfolds on (what a way to ruin a building!). What this place needs is a serious remodeling. Hire a newly graduated Liberal Arts and Sciences student and bring some life (and political correctness) back to this otherwise depressing building. The displays don't attract the eye and it really is only interesting to someone with a degree or a or a keen interest in geology. If you have 1.5 hrs 2.5 euros and no expectations...

Good museum for geology passionate people, if don’t know so much about stones and geology it could be a great way to learn something, but in my opinion it could be a little bit boring if you’re not so interested and passionate by yourself. Now there is a dinosaurs’ installation that make everything more interesting (from February 2018- January 2019) see the pictures about dinosaurs. In my opinion if you buy the ticket only for this museum the price is too much expensive especially if you go to seek it without the installation, but there is the fact that you can buy one ticket to enter in two museum: this one and the zoological museum that is really amazing. So if you buy the ticket and the same day you’ll go to see both the museum, it worths. The price for adults without discounts is 95 dkk, with student...

If you have never been to a natural history museum before then, you will probably enjoy this one. It has the usual bones, rocks, stuffed animals, etc. However, in comparison to others around the world, it is not great. It is small, so it does not take a lot of time to go around. One of the features of other museums is the architecture of the buildings they are housed in. This one is in a building that is not particularly decorative. There is a souvenir shop and place to eat. There are toilets, though these were not very clean. There are disabled toilets. You need a ticket to enter. It is expensive but does also give free entry to the Botanical Gardens greenhouse and butterfly house. There is limited access for people who use a wheelchair. To have fill access you would need to be able to go up a few steps.
