La Trattoria — Restaurant in Geziret al Zamalik, Jazirat al Zamalik

I recently dined at La Trattoria and found the experience to be a mixed bag. The restaurant boasts a charming ambiance with elegant decor and a cozy atmosphere. The service was attentive and courteous, adding to the overall pleasant dining environment. However, when it came to the food, I was left somewhat underwhelmed.

The dishes we ordered were decent, but nothing stood out as particularly exceptional. The flavors were fine, but they didn't live up to the high expectations set by the restaurant's upscale reputation. What was more disappointing, though, was the portion size. Despite being quite expensive, the servings were surprisingly small.I expected much more generous portions.

Overall, while La Trattoria provides a nice setting and good service, the combination of normal-tasting food, high prices, and small portions left me feeling that it didn't quite offer the value for money I was hoping for. ordered the fillet steak medium, was more on the rare side, had to return it and it came back same piece but heated a little more which resulted in more burnt outside with still rare inside. the wine sauce that ordered with it tasted very off as if its very old bottle of wine that taste pretty much like nothing but cork! secondly ordered the carbonara which when u think you'll go to an Italian restaurant you'll find an authentic version (no cream) but that wasn't the case, plus there were pieces of clumped up egg whites in the sauce. (authentic carbonara is made with only egg yolks-no cream)

Went there with high expectations, was certainly disappointed. Food was average at best. We ordered the Duck Risotto, was so dry and lacking taste, lasagna was not on the menu but they said it is one of their best dishes, was really below average in taste and you can get much better in much cheaper places, very thin and not cooked well. The breaded veal was good but again very average. All in all not worth the hype or the price tag. The one attraction there for some people is alcohol which was over priced.
