A year has passed since my last visit and I'm really happy to say that the quality and taste of the food is even better than before!
My wife and I have had breakfast here, two days in a row (it's really that good). We have tried the Alexandrian foul (my favourite), the zooba special foul, shakshouka (scrambled eggs with onions and tomatoes), hawashee (special bread filled with ground beef and onions, made with no oil or butter!), spicy sausages with peppers, wholegrain koshary (you read that correctly!) and a lovely cheese and tomato dip with their in-shop made, fresh bread. We also had their fresh 'hibiscus and lemon' juice and the more traditional 'lemon and mint' juice.
Every single dish was delicious and filling. On top of this, each dish is very reasonably priced and between the two of us, we shared four dishes and a few drinks for around 80 Egyptian pounds - which is a lot less than neighbouring eateries.
The manager is a very kind and welcoming gentleman who suggested some dishes for us and made us feel very welcome and at home.
We'll be going back for breakfast tomorrow not only for the delicious food but for the exceptional customer service.

Read moreTerrible service on a friday morning. I have always been a fan of Zooba since its first branch in zamalek. Needless to say today marked the turning point of my opinion of this place. The service was absoloutely terrible. I came along with a group of 4 individuals as early as 9.45 am. We were the only customers at the time. One hour and 20 minutes after making the order and several requests to check on our order, about a fraction of the order arrives. We then request the rest of the order and the waiter (Hany) replies in an unfriendly manner indicating they have not started it and wouldnt care less if we decided to leave without the rest of the order. 30 minutes later nothing shoes up so we decide to order the check from the same waiter (Hany), he gives a disrespectful grin and looks the other way deciding to ignore us while we continue to call him. I am truly upset for losing what i thought was among the best egyptian oriental breakfast locations.

Read moreThis place deserves all the hype it gets. Unbelievably delicious food at incredibly affordable (and potentially underpriced) rates. If you come here, you must get their Koshary. The description may throw you off (rice, spaghetti, tomato sauce, lentils, chickpeas, fried onions, etc.), but it is the best thing I’ve eaten. Then comes the falafels that are green in color due to the parsley that is mashed into the mixture. These are delicious and if you have the spicy harissa powder that is on the table, put just a little on as it could be pretty spicy (but just on the front end and then dissipates quickly). Their fries are ok. It feels like they need more seasoning or definitely need to have a sauce. We should have gotten the ladna fries as I believe those would have something.
The seating is VERY limited, with one table for ~16 people. Expect to either wait awhile OR get it to go.
All these items are $1-3, so it is crazy just how affordable it is for the quantity...
