Hospital food with a view. Ordered promptly and received drinks in an ok timeframe. THREE HOURS we sit with NOTHING to eat. Tables that are sat after us are served and left. We complain that we are starving and they say they will rush our food out. Mint tea never received. Risotto balls- Flavorless and cold in cold tomato sauce. Caesar salad is ICEBERG lettuce with watered down mayo for dressing and no croutons. the “steaks” are exactly like the lunch my son received while in hospital. Cold, undefined, institutional meat, hidden under a thick goo of canned gravy. my other son ordered what should’ve been a simple cheeseburger. Nope. Burger was about 50% smaller than the bun and not how he ordered it. So he was unable to eat the top half. Pasta Alfredo was cold, flavorless, and very clearly from a can. Fries with gravy and beef bacon- you guessed it- cold, flavorless, gelatinous canned gravy
And the best bit- my husband was never served any food!!!! He had to sit there, endure this disaster (with two little babies mind you) and still had to pay lol. Can you imagine? Of all people to not bring food out to, the one who pays for the table. Of course the bill was wrong. Charged for my husbands entree that never showed up, charged for an extra pasta dish that had to be switched out because they didn’t have it, and charged for an appetizer that never came out. We left hungry and ate when we got...
Read moreWe attended at around 5 pm. We ordered 2 dishes, and were planning for dessert and then to continue our night elsewhere. The order arrived over an hr later, the steak was cooked very tough and sliced very thinly and flat (i had asked for it to be medium to well juicy), the steak was served on a bed of pasta, which was tasteless. The other dish was lacking in flavour. We also asked for fries for my child, proportion wise i was surprised, i am used to it being served in an abundant quantity this was some fries in a large plate, it was also under cooked and lacking in seasoning. We asked for the steak dish to be rectified, it was but delayed us a further 30 minutes, however the pasta was still pretty basic. I had my child with me, and he was starting to get impatient. We ended up deciding to leave without dessert. There were a few patrons lining up at the upper deck waiting on a table. But to be honest from my experience I don't recommend it. The only advantage was sitting by the water, but I can cook a pretty good steak at home. To be fare I am not a local, I usually stick with traditional food when am in Egypt, this might just be the case across various restaurants, and it could very well be their honest skill set in cooking dishes that aren't necessarily...
Read moreA CULINARY JOURNEY BY THE NILE I recently had the pleasure of dining at this remarkable spot nestled along Cairo's Nile, offering a captivating view of the iconic Cairo Tower. Commencing the culinary voyage with a delightful Chicken Cream Soup, I found the balance of flavors commendable, though slightly leaning towards the salty spectrum.
The Fatoush Salad, an ample portion adorned with the exquisite Lebanese dressing, Dibs el Roman, showcased a harmonious blend of freshness. The Chicken Caesar Salad, boasting a generous size and delectable Caesar sauce, was a savory delight. To kick off the meal, the Orange and Carrot Fresh Juice proved to be a refreshing and fitting choice. The Orios Milkshake was really delicious and rich in flavours.
The Kofta Platter, while slightly smaller than anticipated, presented four small koftas. Regrettably, the kofta lacked the expected seasoning, and the rice accompanying it was undercooked. However, the Mushroom with Spinach and White Sauce emerged as a noteworthy addition to the menu, introducing a delightful new flavor profile.
The pinnacle of the dining experience was the dessert—Zalabia (Locomoadis) with Chocolate and White Chocolate. This exquisite finale featured a perfectly crunchy zalabia, subtly sweet and complemented by the unique twist of chocolate, offering a refreshing take on traditional Middle Eastern desserts. The prices were reasonable given the location of the restaurant right on the Nile River.
The service was commendable, with the servers displaying kindness by relocating us to a more scenic Nile-side table when available. Amidst the helpful and cheerful staff, Mr. Tarek stood out with his smile, attentiveness, and prompt responses, enhancing the overall dining experience.
In spite of some minor shortcomings, our culinary journey was memorable, and we look forward to returning for another gastronomic adventure at this establishment.
