Seagull in Dokki is a well-known seafood spot, offering a relaxed atmosphere and a beautiful location by the Nile. The restaurant provides both indoor and outdoor seating, making it ideal for family gatherings or casual meals with friends.
Food Quality:
The seafood is undeniably fresh, with popular choices like grilled fish, fried shrimp, and a variety of mezzes, including delicious baba ghanoush and tomeya. The portions are generous, and the flavors are well-balanced, making the food the highlight of the experience.
Ambiance and Atmosphere:
The restaurant’s riverside location is a major plus. Dining outdoors is highly recommended, especially in good weather. However, some diners have noted that the space can get quite noisy, especially with children running around, which might detract from the experience if you’re looking for a quieter or more intimate setting.
Service:
While the food quality is appreciated, the service can be slow at times, particularly during peak hours. Some guests have mentioned that the staff, though polite, seemed disorganized, leading to delays in orders and overall service. Given the size of the restaurant, better coordination would greatly improve the dining experience.
Suggestions for Improvement:
Improve service efficiency to reduce wait times, especially during busy periods.
Designated seating areas for families or quieter zones could be considered to better cater to different types of diners.
Enhance food presentation, as the quality of the dishes is already commendable, but a more refined presentation would elevate the overall experience.
Conclusion:
Seagull Restaurant is a great choice for seafood lovers, offering fresh, flavorful dishes in a charming Nile-side setting. However, service issues and the noisy atmosphere can detract from the overall experience. With better service management and a few adjustments to the ambiance, Seagull has the potential to become a top-tier dining...
Read moreCheck your receipt! This is restaurant is run to rip you off so be careful. First of all you have a guy that comes up with a tray full of appetisers snd asks which one you want. Ask how much it is as they don’t have the prices.. for us it was 70 EGL for one dish or 70EGL for upto 5 dishes, so if you get 4 you’ll get charged 140EGL. They’ll place a basket of 4 pita bread on your table whether you ask for it or not and charge you 20EGL. There is no self respecting restaurant that charges for bread. We understand prices hikes for certain things while dining but when 20EGL buys you 200 pieces of bread in any random bakery that’s highway robbery.
We ordered fish , shrimp , soup , pizza and chicken Taook.
The fish and shrimp were very average, nothing special. The pizza I sent back since the cheese was questionable , the dough was not well cooked. The Taook was made with the poorest quality chicken thighs.
And finally those pretty drinks you see in the menu, you will get nothing that looks remotely like it. I ordered a strawberry sunrise , it was syrup and something fizzy in a poorly presented glass.
Finally our bill came. They charged us for things we did not order. We never look at bills in detail, but after being in a restaurant that seems to be run by vultures, I advise it. They had to remove items and recalculate via a calculator.
Be vigilant, don’t be shy to send things back.
Other notes , there aren’t enough wash rooms you’ll find queues of women waiting. Once your finish a dish , just count to 30 and someone is running behind you to grab it.
Just an FYI many of the restaurants on the Nile including this one charge 26-28% service and tax.
You can find way better on the Nile. Will never go back. I wish I took photos but it was one upsetting things...

We indulged in a feast of fresh, flavorful seafood, including perfectly grilled grouper and sea bream, tender calamari, succulent jumbo shrimps, and the star of the show—steamed mussels bursting with rich, savory flavor. Each dish was cooked to perfection, highlighting the freshness and quality of the ingredients.
What truly completed the experience was their extraordinary lemonade—refreshing, zesty, and unlike any we've had before. It balanced the seafood beautifully and was a favorite at the table.
The tranquil Nile view, especially at sunset, made the ambiance even more memorable. Whether you're seated indoors or on the open-air terrace, the setting is ideal for a relaxed and satisfying meal.
For four seafood enthusiasts, the bill came to around EGP 4,200—very fair considering the generous portions, top-notch quality, and unforgettable setting.
