Same concept, new location! Thai Boh has opened at a NEW LOCATION a week ago - a block away from the old, on Viru street near the entrace to the Old Town.
As old and content customers who visit them regulary from Helsinki (Finland), we were happy to find that the wait of the move and renovation (3 months) is finally over. We were also happy see that many of the elements that make this place unique, has been moved over to this slightly larger and clearly less rundown (still historic) building. See images for a glimpse of the fun ambience, simply a reason to visit just for the decor.
To the food and service: We always come here for the chicken skewers and wasabi prawns as starters. Can't miss these! Still as yummy as ever. The wasabi prawns are their speciality, so don't miss out. To go with them, we strongly recommend the Naughty Ginger mocktail if you love flavor. As a main, we enjoyed the green panang chicken [spiciness level 7/10 with extra chili is best]. Sofia, who served us this time, was extremely kind, attentive and joyful and made our experience all the more nicer. She helped us have our phones charge while we waited for food and ate. The only room for development I'd give is to the kitchen, which on a slow and quiet Sunday (off tourist season) was either understaffed or helplessly slow in getting the food ready. This will not be sustainable as business picks up and the place fills up during summer. So for now, as a visitor, prepare for slow dining and a lot of coctails while waiting for food - even with just 3-4 tables occupied.
Still happy to tip afterwards....

Despite quite a few dishes being unavailable and a long wait for food, I should say as a table of four dining, the other’s starters and mains were good. However, my pork belly dish arrived after everyone else had finished their meals. The pork belly was just slithers of fat (I often eat it so know what to expect and this wasn’t it!) so I returned it to the kitchen. The waiter brashly said he could refund 50% as the kitchen would say the pork was fine. After returning he said the kitchen agreed to refund it, as it was below standard due to the meat they received (surely chefs should know this before service?).
The rice side dish was returned also, but not removed from the bill. When questioned, the waiter refused to take this off because nothing was wrong with it, however we pointed out that it was only ordered on his recommendation to go with the dish and hadn’t been eaten. The waiter was very argumentative and not something we have experienced in a restaurant. We had to downright refuse to pay it in the end and should add we’ve never had to send a dish back in any restaurant before.
The wine was very poor for €7 a glass and we were brought table water to start without being informed about the cost, 6 euros is excessive but after the rice we let it go.
This was a recommendation from a friend but sincerely the worst food and service I’ve received in a long time.

Everything was worth tasting, but the Beef Tenderloin Tataki stood out, especially thanks to the delightful truffle-coconut mayonnaise. It was a super delicious combination! The portions were way too large for us, and we started wondering if the tasting menu actually consisted of full-sized dishes. For tasting and feeling satisfied, half the amount would have been more than enough. A big plus for the warm dishes being properly hot—we both dislike lukewarm food. We were able to swap the tiramisu included in the menu for a chocolate fondant (for an additional €1 per person), and it was perfectly made! I highly recommend it to anyone searching for the perfect chocolate fondant—go and have just this if you're not hungry otherwise! The cocktails were also great, and I particularly recommend the Yuzu & Basil drink—refreshing and delicious. Another plus for the wide selection of mocktails! The restaurant has a well-thought-out interior design, and although we were seated in the winter garden, which was a bit chilly at the beginning of February, it didn't bother us since the space was beautifully decorated and cozy. On warm summer evenings, it must be absolutely charming, especially combined with the terrace. A lovely restaurant with professional...
