Mixed experience eating here. The wait staff were friendly and nice but the food was honestly quite bad.
Perhaps we ordered the wrong dishes as all other tables seemed to be eating traditional cheese dishes. Was in the mood for a steak and my wife wanted fish so we got the entrecote and lake perch.
The medium rare entrecote I ordered came extremely well done and had the texture of soft wood or tree bark. The quality and cut of meat was suspect as well as it was full of sinew and cartilage. It was very unpleasant and easily one of the worst steaks I've ever had, virtually inedible and I gave up about half way through even though I was starving before the meal and steak is one of my favourite dishes.
My wife's perch fillet was cut up and looked a little like little anchovy fillets. Taste was pretty flat, though the fries were alright.
To the wait staff's credit an offer was made to refire the steak order but I had already lost my appetite.
The location and environment is however quite nice, next to the water. Thoughtful touches like blankets and heating are provided and the beer is quite good. I think it's a nice cosy place for dinner but I suppose just get the traditional...
Read moreFriendly welcome, pleasant staff and good food including regional specialities all served up right next to Annecy's iconic and much photographed old prison.
The young waiter who served us was friendly, welcoming and helpful.
The food was good, including tartiflette, fondue and raclette with the main ingredient being cheese 🧀, lots of cheese 🧀 😋.
We've eaten at several restaurants in Annecy over the last week, and from experience I would suggest that you pay a little more at La Bastille à Raoul, possibly because of the outlook, which is excellent. An example being the mushroom fondue which we found to be €4 more here than at another restaurant nearby that didn't have the seem view.
The service was good. All of our meals arrived together and were piping hot. We had three Reblonchannades and a Caziflette; all very good and filling meals.
The drinks were no more expensive than other establishments that we've eaten at this last week. A solid four stars 🌟 🤩 ✨️ from us.

Read moreThis cosy restaurant is in the centre of Annecy’s tourist attraction with lots of people. The night we visited this restaurant was one of the hot summer nights, with every local person and all tourists come out for drinking or night, which made most restaurants packed. Despite of the madness, all staff tried to provide good service. The food came out fast enough and the staff explained it ok with his broken English. It was hard to get drinks or anything else during the meal though. The food was good, we ordered Raclette, which was very good in terms of Raclette cheese being genuine and cold meat and salad presented well. Guessing it’s hard to fail this dish if the...
