My husband and I had dinner at this place last night. The food was OK, nothing special at all! I had Sauerkraut (sausage and cabbage dish) and my husband had Flambee both very average! With a half bottle of wine, our bill was around 50 euros. We had a 200 euro note that we wanted to pay with it. The waiter came after 10 minutes to get the money and said he wants us to pay with card. We refused as we had cash (legal note of their country) and our credit card provider is charging us a lot! He had a very nasty attitude when he took the money! Then he came back with some notes and a pile (huge pile) of coins (around 30 euros) and slammed it on our table and said thats what you get!!!! This restaurant is not a cheap place and not a quiet place as well. When the bill for two people is 50 euros, I bet they have enough cash to give us in notes and not a mountain of coins. But he just wanted to be rude and nasty to us!!!! This is very disappointing and the worst service I have ever seen in any place. Colmar is lovely in general and I hope we will have better experiences for the rest...

We were the first customers to arrive at this restaurant, right before opening at 7:00 PM. Despite that, we ended up being served last, after everyone else who came well after us had already received their meals—some within just 10 minutes of ordering.
We waited over an hour to get our food – it finally arrived at 8:06 PM. Meanwhile, other tables who came later were served quickly and efficiently. It was impossible not to notice the difference in treatment. The only possible reason we can think of is that we spoke Russian – and it truly felt like we were deliberately being ignored because of that.
The staff showed no apology or explanation, just cold indifference. This was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had in France – completely ruined our evening in what should have been a charming place.
Would absolutely not recommend this restaurant to anyone who values respectful service or fair treatment. Shocking behavior in such a touristic and...
Read moreA great place for local food.
The menu is straightforward and easy to understand, even including some English translations on many of the dishes. Entrees and course menus are available, and there's a good selection of beers and wines. They also have coffees and a variety of desserts.
The hostess was gracious and spoke good English. She helped me with my wine selection, which was quite good. The restaurant had a good ambiance and was quiet, though there was a regular stream of locals who seemed to know the hostess by name.
Another reviewer said that they didn't think this was a good place for kids, but there is a children's menu...under 10 euros for a kids entree of ham or sausages with a small salad and choice of potatoes or pasta. The kid's meal even includes a dessert plate. A good value in my opinion, and kid friendly!
The prices are also quite reasonable in my opinion, though most of my European experience has been in Switzerland so I may be biased.
Give it a try, you won't be...
