Terribly rude and discriminatory customer service. This is also evident in the restaurant's hostile responses to other negative reviews.
When we arrived at the restaurant, we waited, but there was no host to greet us. As there were several empty unreserved tables outside, we took a seat.
Suddenly, a waitress came rushing out of the restaurant confrontationally to ask if we had chosen to sit there ourselves (in French). I confirmed, in French, asked if that was okay and if we could please see the menu. She stormed off and started yelling at her colleague for allowing us to sit there. He seemed equally confused by her anger.
She passed by us again after 5-10 minutes, so I asked again (in English) for the menu. She rolled her eyes, grunted aggressively and ignored me. The table beside us (French, Caucasian) acknowledged that she was treating us prejudicially in comparison to how she served them. They refused to make pleasantries with her when she delivered their bill (with smiles and attempts at small talk).
Eventually, the owner came out to take our order. When we explained what happened, he confirmed that he already knew and apologised for her behaviour. He was very friendly. However, he made excuses that she was new to the job and angry that we had sat down without her permission. He insisted he would take our order, but understood if we wanted to leave.

We waited extremely long for our dessert and even longer for the bill (about 40 minutes). Even when they just stood around it was very hard to get their attention and when I waved they just waved back instead of coming over. Most absurdly they tried to gaslight me into thinking it's normal for their rhubarb crumble dessert to smell and taste like garlic.
The waiter even confirmed the smell but told me it's supposed to be like that. Rhubarb can only smell like that when it's not fresh or poorly prepared. I've eaten rhubarb tarts regularly and never had this issue. Yet I almost believed them until I asked my friends and researched online.
Other than the dreadful dessert I had, which almost made me puke, the food was good. The ingredients seemed fresh and the beef and veggies where well prepared. My chickens seemed a bit dry but not extremely.
Update: the reply is exactly what I am talking about. They try to gaslight you and I almost believed it. But the fact is I have eaten rhubarb plenty of times in different forms since it is a staple in Germany and also eaten plenty of classic french food during multiple vacation. And never have I been disgusted by a dish this much and even less by a dessert, neither sweet or savoury.
I actually spit it out again because I couldn't make myself swallow it. Even if they truly believe that their dessert is supposed to taste that way, which I truly doubt, good service would have noticed my absolute disgust and tried to offer me something different or at least take the dessert away when it is literally...

There are many photos of this dessert in my feed. The first time they brought it to me cold. The second time, barely warm. When I showed a photo of what it usually looks like in their restaurants, they started yelling at me.
They accused me of having a photo from another restaurant. But when they saw that the photo was from reviews, they admitted that it was a cupcake and said, "This is how it is today."
They dragged out time and did not bring the bill. They yelled at me throughout the restaurant, the lady and the waiter laughed loudly and discussed me. It's a pity I'm a tourist and don't understand the language. I immediately said that I would pay for this disgusting cold cupcake and wanted to leave this place.
At first I didn't understand why there was so much negativity about the service in the reviews. But now I understand. I hope that people who value the quality of the products and service will...
