La Péniche — Restaurant in Lisieux

The complementary crostini should have been our sign… Stale, the spread without flavour. We should’ve just paid for the wine and we should’ve left. Could’ve, should’ve, but we stayed. It turned out to be a regrettable experience. We went for starters and mains. The gravlax on toast was nothing more than plain salmon on a casino slice, some lettuce on the side. The fish soup was tasty, which made half of our company slightly recover from the crostini. Then the mains: a sort of cod tartare, which turned out to be quite undefinable. We also ordered the 8 portion prawns. Not quite sure what the idea behind these was; overcooked and served on ice. Flavourless and ice cold. We didn’t even finish the meal. At the checkout we were asked if all had been okay. Our ‘mwah’ was ignored....

Had a great time with nice sea/harbor view. Nice food, great fish, friendly staff. Owner welcomed us (as group of 14 people) personally to make sure all was fine :-) Restaurant had lots of work/guests = another group of min. 20 people. They managed greatly without delay and always smiling/attending well - congratulations!!

Cannot understand few very bad remarks here, we felt totally different and spent entire evening there with all kinds of different good food (not overpriced for the region either).

Special restaurant as being a ship, nicely done, we were at left side with windows all around the small(er) restaurant part. That even can be closed by door towards the large part for being a separate group. Great view to...

Fine establishment on a renovated barge on the water very close to the beach. The atmosphere was average despite all they had to work with.

Let’s start with service, it was a little packing considering the status of the restaurant.

The food. Others ordered a few things differently to me and I’ll get to that. My starter of fish soup was more a consommé and quite frankly not very tasty. Others ordered the lobster ravioli which by all accounts despite their size were delicious.

For my main dish I ordered the monk fish. It was amazing, amazing flavor, small but correctly portioned.

My desert was also very nice, the intense chocolate. Others had the sampler which...
