Horrible service. Arrogant staff
Let me elaborate :
we, a family of 4 (two kids are almost teenagers), were planning a nice meal (lunch). Looked up reviews, and based on proximity of this place, decided to go here
the tables are really really small and every other table (having a meal) had 2 ppl on them. So we requested to join 2 tables (for lunch) - So we could eat comfortably. I guess the guy didn’t like the fact that I said the tables were small for us or maybe he is generally mad at everyone.
the guy (young guy - looked like he is either the owner or owner’s son) very rudely started saying that he won’t join it - and we could leave if that doesn’t work. I won’t say he was yelling at us, but pretty close to yelling.
we still ordered drinks. (Couldn’t order food as there was no space to put the food on the table).
once we were finished with the drinks I kept calling him to give us the check - he would come to the next table and completely ignore us.
in the end I walked up to him - he took my card - swiped and without saying a courteous ‘thank you’ shoved the receipt in my hand and moved on
we went to the sushi place (Le Bonzai) down the alley and had the best meal. Highly highly recommend for sushi lovers !!!!
I’ve had meals from fantastic hole-in-the-wall places to Michellin 3* restaurants… in many countries… so I have experienced it all. This would be in the bottom 1% in terms of my experience anywhere.
In my experience I’ve also seen that the way you handle any scenario - tells a lot about your business.
I ran a small business before and here’s a tip : you don’t need to bend rules - but be nice and polite - and patient and ppl understand … no need to be rude and vindictive…
bottom line is - if you’re more than 2 ppl and thinking of having lunch here - think twice. Can’t say anything about their food because I couldn’t have it - but based on all the reviews it looks like the only reason this place gets too much attention is that it’s right next...
Read moreLa Fontaine has a very nice location in the beautiful town of Cassis. Little menu but lots of beverages. I've ordered the Entrecote which contained a lot of fat, which stayed on the plate, and no sauce at all, so it was way too dry. Fries were okay, so was the salad. But the real sad part about this place is the service. The waitress was either mad at the world or at herself, but this was definitely not what we're used to in France. Very cold, rude answers, never a smile, barely a hello or bye. Are we supposed to make them a favor? "Fun" fact: They're toilet sign actually reads "Private", so dont be surprised if the staff yells at you for walking in the wrong door. Maybe they should just change the sign from "Privé" to "Toilette"? Whatever, definitely not going back there. There are plenty of other nice restaurants around the port to enjoy, and...
Read moreI was very dissapointed by the quality, portion size and value for money of the food here. We ordered sea bass ceviche (18euro), steak (25euro) and still water (6 euro). The steak looked like it was a chuck steak, and they cooked it well done (after I asked for medium rare) . It was chewy and unseasoned, alongside the fries. The ceviche tasted decent, but they gave a mountain of salad to make the portion look big, when there was very little fish in the bowl. Don't me mislead by the word restaurant in the name. I feel ripped off and dissapointed by...
