I walked in at 19:30 on a Saturday evening without a reservation. They let me know they were fully booked by 20:30 but could accommodate me if I took a reasonable amount of time. I told them I didn't want to rush. They said they understood. We communicated well and agreed to give it a chance.
It's a classy, rustic interior, as you can tell, with velvet red divan seats lining the wall. It has an old school meets modern sort of charm. The black and white photos lining the wall work well with the red and brown interior.
Downstairs is a space/bar you can rent for private parties 🎉/concerts.
The evening I came, dinner was going to be accompanied later by a live pianist 🎹
I had the classic duck confit with potatoes 🍠 roasted in the duck grease 😋😄. Who's living like a doctor?
The potatoes were perfect: moist yet not too soft. The duck too was moist and, surprisingly for the skin, worked well! Hidden under the duck, mixed with the potatoes were tiny chopped mushrooms 🍄 that added character and texture to the whole experience.
I came in and meant business, to eat and not linger. Overall, a great experience: I was fed well, given courtesy I don't take for granted.
I ended things with a glass of Champagne 🍾🥂 at the comptoir/bar by the entrance. As I hung out around there, I got to catch the team interacting with each other and being goofy 😜: they're a fun bunch. We chatted a bit. By the time I got warmed up and comfortable, the piano player started serenading the whole place with her sweet voice.
Shout out to Antoine and Alexandre at the bar! The marble heads lined at the top are from famous people that used to play music here back in the...
Read moreI live in Paris and came here while my parents were visiting. Extremely overpriced for the quality and quantity of the food. The service started out nice but things slowly went down hill. We had our appetizers and waited 1 hour for our dinner to arrive. They had obviously forgotten about us as the place was basically empty, and our server never once came to let us know what was happening, even though he had been very attentive during our appetizers and drinks. When it arrived it was just disappointing. I would describe this as a place trying to get away with the tiny yet high priced menu items, but just can't. We decided to skip the dessert as we were already disappointed with our dinner and the amount of time it took for the food to arrive. When we got up to pay at the bar, the credit card machine wasn't working and they asked us to walk to the ATM around the corner to pull out money ourselves, or to wait at the bar and have another drink until the machine starting working. This is when I basically lost it. There are so many incredible restaurants in Paris, this would not be one that I...
Read moreWhat a waste of money, and on my last night in Paris! I was walking near my hotel looking for a place to have dinner. The place I went the night before was terrific but was closed on Sat night for some reason. So I walked by this place and the first floor was full, there was even a pianist playing. I thought I was lucky.
They took me to the second floor, much more quite and no music. The waiter gave me an English menu but only spoke French to me. But so far so good, no complains. I went with their 38 euro deal of starter + main course + desert. The dishes were tiny and mediocre. I ordered risotto and it was nothing special, I make the same at home. The worse part was the desert. It was a glass filled with cream and 1/8 of a pear below the cream. I couldn't believe they charge 12 euro for that!! I ended up paying 45 euro with the wine (which wasn't that great either).
There are cheaper and much better options in the neighborhood. Stay away from this place. I have no idea how this place was full. Maybe on Sat. night everywhere is full so people end up...
