Bar du Bouillon — Restaurant in Paris

We did not enjoy our meal here very much. I understand the Bouillon experience caters to to affordability but this verged on tourist trap.

They did not have our reservation when we arrived and there was some shuffling about when I showed the maître d' the confirmation email. We were eventually seated and the service ranged from absent to rushed. After waiting a bit for a server we placed our order and within minutes our food arrived. Based on the flavor I suspect it was mostly premade. It was lukewarm and somewhat bland. The server herself was curt bordering on rude. It all gave the feeling of an assembly line. Again, I understand Bouillons are meant to be efficient but this pushed the limit. Other Bouillons we have been to were much better.

We are staying nearby and our hotelier recommended this place for dinner as we were tired from traveling and didn’t want to walk very far. It’s a very beautiful and classic yet unstuffy French restaurant we enjoyed very much. The staff are extremely friendly, accommodating for English speakers and quite entertaining. We didn’t make a reservation and decided to wait for a table at the bar. It was a busy Monday night so we waited around 30 min but they comped us 2 glasses of wine and a glass of liqueur we were curious about. Our meal was great and perfect protons. For 2 3-course meals and 4 drinks (minus the comped wine) it was about €107 which we found quite reasonable for such a nice...

Tout d’abord, le cadre est parfait. Cependant le rapport qualité prix n’est pas à la hauteur : c’est un peu trop cher pour ce que c’est. Par exemple, certains plats sont sous calibrés tel le tartare de bœuf (juste la viande et un petit ramequin de salade). Par ailleurs, nous avons pris le menu à 35€ (entrée plat dessert/fromage), et dès la prise de commande il est demandé de choisir le dessert, avant même l’arrivée de l’apéritif… Contrainte inhérente à leur système informatique. D’autre part, j’ai été déçu par le service nonchalant des couverts posés négligemment sur la table, une ardoise posée bancalement sur la table , les verres distribués aux convives comme dans un bar…. Bizarre pour ce type d’établissement. la serveuse était professionnelle et agréable mais un peu imprécise compte tenu de la classe annoncée et des prix établis. Ça reste un lieu où vous pourrez passer une bonne soirée mais il ne faut pas espérer un bon plan petit budget. Il y a braucoup...
