Bad experience for the price.

We had diner at Biwan on a Friday night during Christmast holidays. We had one “5 courses menu” with the Sake pairing option, and “8 courses menu” and some cockails.. The bill was 285 euros for 2. Everything was quite fine, until the 5th dish of the 8 courses menu, where I was supposed to have the toro ( fat tuna belly) and some sashimi. For some reasons, we waited more than 20-25min between the 4th and 5th dish (the others guest that arrived after us were served the sashimi before us). Finally the sashimi has been served but without the toro, they replaced with the squid instead, WITHOUT any further explanation!!! We finished the diner without any remarks, only at the end when paying we asked why there was no toro served. It turns out there was shortage of toro due to holiday season ? (Ok, but the table next to us did have it though?) It is completely understandable in case of shortage, BUT letting the guests waiting so long and finally served something not as presented initially “without” explanation or any was totally deceiving!!! To me the service is not aligned at all with the price! There are rooms for improvement, any friendly explanation or smallest commercial gestures could totally fix the problem.

It is a pity because apart from that, the food and the...

The overall quality of the food was good; however, the portion sizes were quite small. The menu could be clearer — for example, the “Chazuke de saumon” dish was described as if it included a full serving of salmon, but it turned out to be only a small amount sprinkled over the rice. This detail was not mentioned by the server, although a similar clarification was provided for the chicken dish. Improving menu descriptions and ensuring consistent communication from staff would be...

Had the August menu at a very cosy and romantic table hidden in the back… The food was unbelievably amazing… in particular the dessert with black sesame and coffee ice cream. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and taught us plenty about Japanese ingredients, which were all new to us coming from the US! The chef even came by our table to get feedback, and so did the owner. What an experience!!! 10 stars! ⭐️

Er only stopped for a quick snack and a cup of coffee. Had the gyoza and they were absolutely excellent. The coffee was delicious as well and probably the best not served in a specialty artisan coffee shop. The interior is stunning and the restaurant in the basement is beautiful. We ordered using the QR code on the table and the serving came almost immediately.
