This place was recommended by mum’s friend who lives locally. We visited the café before lunchtime and the place was empty with only 3 tables occupied plus us. We were expecting good service as it was empty. They asked us if we had a reservation, but because we didn’t have a reservation they had us sit in the upper area close to the stairs. They gave us a menu and came back 20 mins later to take our order, then customers started coming. There was a big group who ordered 15 mins after us and were served within 10 mins whilst we waited for 1hr and 25 mins. Only then did we start asking and complaining, and they told us that they were prioritizing the big group. The lady whom we asked to follow up our order totally ignored us. The latte we ordered came after an hour and the food followed after 23 mins. The latte was just warm and very foamy, more like a cappuccino. The food served to us was just okay, compared to other cafés that offer the same thing and for less price. We also noticed that they tend to ignore Asians, we only get served when everyone else is done. Also, because they noticed how annoyed we were and that we were about to leave before our food arrived, they took out the latte on our bill. Which is truly nothing and, honestly, even if they gave us everything for free, it’s still a bad experience, and I’m more than capable of paying for everything. I don’t recommend...

Showed up, and told us that we needed a reservation. No problem, we booked the next available time and walked around until our time. When we returned, they were visibly upset that we were back and asked very tersely, “yes, what do you want?” When I said we arrived for our reservation, she said they had no openings and we could not be seated. They were very rude about it. When I asked if I had made a reservation for the correct place and showed it to them on my phone, they said yes but there were no open tables and there was a wait. When I asked if we could wait for the next table close to our reservation she rolled her eyes pointed at all the tables and walked away. We had high expectations for this specific restaurant and it was one of the highlights of our planning for our trip to France. I was very disappointed as this was the only place that was rude to us and all other restaurants, bars, and venues were all very welcoming. I really do not appreciate the attitude that they gave my wife when she first asked. We did not return and went to Comptoir Breizh a block away instead....

I decided to spend the day in Montmartre and needed to try a galette, which is a savory crepe filled with some tasty stuff. I came there, there was a seat outside. The interior is also really sweet, and the bathroom downstairs has a cave vibe! There aren’t that many seats so it feels nice and intimate. I sat outside in the sun, lovely. The place itself is on a cute small street corner, it’s the perfect Paris scene. The staff is SO nice! 😊 I got a beer from a local brewery. And I got the galette of the day, it was so so so good!! I enjoyed every bite! They used white asparagus that was in season when I was there, which is a tell tell sign they’re using fresh local ingredients. Which is no surprise because you WILL run into a farmers market in the area!! The galette had smoked salmon, crispy snap peas, white asparagus, and some kind of soft sharp cheese. Genius!! Thank you for giving me such a memorable experience!!

I’m also adding pics of the highlights of the neighborhood, all walking distance (with stairs and hills though) :) bon journee en...

Most delicious galettes and crepes we had in Paris. They have incredible attention to detail, the ingredients are all evidently sourced with great care (largely from Brittany according to the menu) and to the highest standard. You can really taste the difference compared to other places we tried during our visit to Paris. We particularly loved that while they stay true to tradition, there is also an innovative (japanese?) twist which makes the whole experience even better. We had two galettes, one with smoked duck and the other with a salad, radish, tofu and smoked salmon. The latter especially was absolutely mind blowing. The sweet crepes with ginger caramel and Ince cream disappeared from our plates in minutes too. Divine. The cocktails were delicious - innovative, elegant and not overly sweet. There is also a great selection of (dry) cider. The one we had was light and refreshing. Service was warm, attentive and professional. We look forward to visiting again next time we are in Paris. A truly memorable experience.

We stopped here for a quick bite before heading over to Atelier des Lumières to see van Gogh’s magical works displayed in lights. It is a quaint corner cafe in the trendy Marais - as it was conveniently located midway between our two cultural experiences for the day. This crêperie specializes in galettes blé noir - buckwheat crêpes - in true Brenton style. The galettes are served in a “no frills, no fuss” manner, without sprinkles of unnecessary parsley or blobs of sauce with no business being on the plate. The Normande galette is filled with raw Camembert cheese, smoked ham from Basque Country, and topped with fresh green leaves - very delicious and extremely filling! One of the crepes classiques is the caramel au beurre sel - crêpes with a chocolate mousse filling, served will salted caramel sauce. If the angels were to favor a sauce, this would be the one!

Great spot for crepes and galettes! We were seated upstairs which felt like a very cosy little nook. Our server was very friendly and spoke fantastic English. She gave us great recommendations on her favourite menu items. We got two savoury options. The galette with artisanal ham, egg and cheese was sublime. We also tried the special galette with scallops and seaweed butter and leek fondue, which was also delicious and very unique, although overall we preferred the classic one. We also tried the sweet crepe with apple which was my absolute favourite! It came with a nice scoop of ice cream and whipped cream which went perfectly with the warm applesauce. As recommended by our waiter, we also paired our crepes with some cider which was very sweet!
